hanZen
I want to make an image of my OSX86 partition/install-DVD, but when I choose my 'BACKUP' partition (HFS+) it gives me an error: Unable to create 'OSX86.dmg' - permission denied!? What can I do to fix this?? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/21483-backup-of-my-osx86-permission-denied/ Share on other sites

packagefixer
Login as root, or try a permission repair. 90% of the poeple have no clue how to enable the root account so I think it would have helped him more if you explained how to enable root when providing instructions to someone who isn't Mac-familar where root access is required. LedY
You can also enable root by using the GUI: Quick Method using NetInfo Manager This is the easiest method if you are more of a GUI person. 1. Log in on the Admin account. 2. Start the NetInfo Manager application, which is in the Application/Utilities folder: Macintosh HD -> Applications -> Utilities -> NetInfo Manager. 3. From the top menu bar pull down the "Security" item and select "Enable root user". You will have to enter the administrator's password to authenticate yourself.
