ninuk
UPDATE: Sorry I forgot to mention. I own the normal AT3IONT-I. So I can tell you nothing about WIFI. But bluetooth works with a stick OOB. Nico Ok this is what I'm at: SL from 10.6 retail DVD and upgraded to 10.6.5 with patched kernel http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=197020 Installed kexts: EvOreboot.kext, fakesmc.kext and Legacy888bHDA.kext I installed this with ##### and therefore there is another kext in the S/L/E folder dealing with the sound. Could be that I additionally installed the REALTEK8169 Ethernet driver from #####. I don't know anymore. As bootloader I have Chameleon RC5 r653 installed. Here is my Extra folder: http://rapidshare.com/files/436717725/Extra.zip I really don't know anymore where I got the DSDT.aml from. Could be the one I extracted or one I downloaded somewhere for another mainboard. But it works so far. I still get confused by this DSDT.aml stuff. Everything is working fine in 64bit except for: Unknown AHCI controller, but this is only cosmetic as I understood it. Sleep and Shutdown don't work. With shutdown the fans stay on and the system is still consuming the 28watt. When I send the system to sleep it is worse. the graphics output is somehow turned off and only a cold restart helps. Hope someone has a few helping suggestions. I bet it's still something with the DSDT or some other powermanagement things I do not understand yet. Hope it helps. Greetings Nico
ninuk
Hi everyone, me again! Anyone out there who got shutdown or sleep working? I'm stuck a little bit. Thank you nico
nargot
@Nargot Can you please confirm the board has Realtek LAN as well. Can't seem to confirm elsewhere and as my purchase depends on a board with Realtek LAN for its other use (Amiga-like OS called AROS) I need to be sure. Also any DSDT sorted yet? I'm sure it would improve matters to have a good DSDT. I think there are some helpful guides at Tonymacx86.com yes realtek nic. it works flawlessly with the R1000 kext. i have some time again and will work on the dsdt and hdmi sound for those who want in response to a few random comments. please just follow my guide, it works. My machine is on 24/7, only doesn't restart/sleep. dont use anything elese you don't need. there is no need to over complicate things. mine is running 10.6.5 (no need to update to 10.6.6 as of yet) sound works lan works etc etc regarding sleep and restart i can work on that. other things like lan and sound work if you dont use a distro! work with a real dvd and it will work. ninuk i will read your post and try and help you later. Brad Greene
I got 64 bit!! I updated to 10.6.7 (using the combo update) used ##### to install AppleHDA and USB rollback, upon reboot I got nothing... Just the BIOS splash and a reboot... So I hooked the drive to another hack laptop I had, installed chameleon RC5 on it... and booted to a kernel panic no matter what I tried... so out of desperation I hooked it back up to the laptop and deleted mach_kernel from the hard drive, and installed the 10.7.0 kernel. I deleted AppleHPET.kext to get USB 2.0 working. P.S. I have this board overclocked to 2.13Ghz and it's stable (48 hours now)

scousi
UPDATE JUNE 22: I've got this board (the AT3IONT-I, not deluxe) working very wellnow after a bit of teething problems and using it as htpc. the following text is messy, i'll clean up the text up later. USB booting is flakey - don't bother its just not worth the wasted time, pop your drive into the sata port instead 0. Format drive of interest as GPT partition (take note of the disk identifier number) 1. Installation from vanilla Snow Leopard Installation DVD onto usb hdd or whatever /Volumes/Mac\ OS\ X\ Install\ DVD/system/installation/packages/osinstall.mpkg 2. Install Chameleon [http://chameleon.osx86.hu/articles/chameleon-20-rc4-is-out] 3. Kexts in /Extra/Extensions Disabler.kext fakesmc.kext Realtek1000SL.kext UUID.kext IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext HDAenabler.kext Legacy888bHDA.kext chown and chmod /Extra sudo kextcache -v 1 -m /Volumes/INSERTNAMEHERE/Extra/Extensions.mkext /Volumes/INSERTNAMEHERE/Extra/Extensions/ files in /Extra smbios.plist (MacPro) com.apple.Boot.plist Required Flags in com.apple.Boot.plist <key>Kernel Flags</key> <string>arch=i386</key> <key>GraphicsEnabler</key> <string>yes</string> 4. Put Hdd into the AT3IONT-I machine or try USB [had heaps and heaps of issues with random waiting for boot device] enable hyperthreading and AHCI in BIOS boot the machine run MacOSXUpdCombo10.6.3v1.1.dmg run .27ae script and copy patched files to /S/L/E copy AppleHDA.kext from 10.6.2 into /S/L/E chown and chmod S/L/E sudo kextcache -v 1 -m System/Library/Caches/com.apple.kext.caches/Startup/Extensions.mkext /System/Library/Extensions/ copy patched kernel [mach_kernel 10.3.0 (Mac OS X 10.6.3) Fixed 64-bit mode] to root reboot hopefully it works known problems onboard sound - crackles with voodooHDA in 10.6.3 (not an issue for me, as using usb sound so lowest priority) - working now only 10mbit ethernet. (working on this one - really annoying when transferring large files) -fixed -64-bit kernel panics (not the end of the world, may look into it) -cold reboot - crashes sometimes during boot, then boots fine (working on it) - vlc/quicktime 720p - stutters badly. 720/1080p plays fine with MPlayer OSX Extended tho. nb: yes you can edit dsdt for HDEF, however running one more kext is just fine. USB probs will most likely get fixed via dsdt edit also... next time i have time Can you post your DSDT? Are you getting QE-CI with full acceleration? ge0
Hi! I have an Asus AT3IONT-I Deluxe too and I've been trying to install OS X using iATKOS S3 v2 without success I get to the point where it starts installing an it says how much time is left. It loads to about 5% and then freezes there and tells me it's 18 minutes left. I've let it run for around 7 hours, multiple times, with no luck. The last time(s) I took a look in the installation log and it seems that it freezes at the same point every time: "Retrieved package com.uphuck.pkg.r1000". I've tried booting using cpus=1 but the result is the same. How do I fix this? I have made sure the bios settings are as similar as http://thebackpackr....-bios-settings/ as possible. I don't think it matters but I've overclocked the CPU to 2ghz. It should theoretically not affect the installation process... right? I guess this does not actually affect the installation process either, but in customize I choose... bootloader option: Graphics enabler 32-bit boot [*]kernel patch for Atom [*]VGA -> nVidea [*]Network: Wired -> Realtek RTL8168 Wireless -> Atheros Have I missed a patch or anything? What bootloader should I use? There seems to be quite a lot of people who get stuck at 18 minutes (http://lmgtfy.com/?q=iatkos+18+minutes), but there's no straight forward solution. And most of the answers is that the user should wait for a couple of hours and that the loading bar would just make a big leap. That has not happened. ge0
I finally managed to install OS X! But I had to do it in my own way I managed to fix WIFI which many of you had problems with. Just install this kext: http://www.osx86.net...ros_ar9285.html I have the following problems: 1. No sound via HDMI 2. Noisy sound. I don't know what kexts to use! And I've tried everything suggested. Fixed! 3. When I update to 10.6.8 using combo update, the OS won't boot. Going to try it again See steps 14-18 3. Can't get built in bluetooth to work. But my bluetooth usb dongle works great. 4. It doesn't say that Qe/CI is enabled (nor disabled, it doesn't say anything). 5. USB is behaving weird. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't Don't install PXHCD.kext!!!! Here's my procedure: 0. Prepare AT3IOINT-I Deluxe machine with right BIOS config (http://thebackpackr....-bios-settings/) Configure SATA as [AHCI] 1. Format drive of interest as GPT partition 2. Install OS X from retail Snow Leopard Installation DVD (10.6.3) to external HDD using a Mac (be careful not to install to the Mac's real drive!). Btw, I used an ordinary HDD with a USB to SATA cable I didn't use a real "external" HDD. 3. Boot up from the external HDD and do the initial setup (still on the Mac!). 4. Install kexts using Kext Wizard (http://www.insanelym...howtopic=253395): IOAHCIBlockStorageInjector.kext Disabler.kext FakeSMC.kext RealtekRTL81xx.kext UUID.kext IO80211Family.kext (WIFI - http://www.osx86.net...ros_ar9285.html) PXHCD.kext DON'T!!!! SleepEnabler.kext 5. Download mach_kernel_atom [mach_kernel 10.3.0 (Mac OS X 10.6.3) Fixed 64-bit mode] and rename it to mach_kernel. 6. Replace mach_kernel in external drive's root-folder with the mach_kernel(_atom) you just downloaded. 7. chown -R 0:0 mach_kernel 8. Put HDD into the AT3IOINT-I Deluxe machine (Now using SATA). 9. Boot with "##### Legacy" Disk. (http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads) 10. Select HDD in the menu and boot 11. Install ##### (http://www.tonymacx86.com/downloads) with the following alternatives checked: - ##### - Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> PS/2 - Customizations -> Boot Options -> 32-bit Apple Boot Screen 12. Reboot using HDD this time. 13. I followed the installation-instructions for bluetooth in the thread: http://www.insanelym...howtopic=270370 The internal bluetooth did not work, however my bluetooth usb dongle did. So I did do not know if this does any different. But I did it anyway. 14. Install Combo Update to 10.6.8 (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1399). When finished, DO NOT REBOOT!!! 15. Download patched kernel (it's an atom kernel for 10.6.8) from http://prasys.info/2...nd-intel-atoms/, extract it and move legacy_kernel-10.6.8 to Macintosh HD or root of your drive aka (/ ) 16. Open terminal and then run these commands: cd / sudo mv mach_kernel mach_kernel_old sudo mv /legacy_kernel-10.6.8 /mach_kernel sudo chown -R 0:0 mach_kernel sudo chmod -R 644 mach_kernel (long story short - replace old kernel with the one you downloaded) 17. Run ##### installer once again and install: - ##### - Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Audio -> Realtek ALC8xx -> ALC8xxHDA - Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Audio -> Realtek ALC8xx -> AppleHDA Rollback - Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Audio -> Realtek ALC8xx -> Non-DSDT HDAEnabler -> ALC887/888b - Drivers & Bootloaders -> Kexts & Enablers -> Miscellaneous -> PS/2 - Customizations -> Boot Options -> 32-bit Apple Boot Screen 18. kramer2k
So got it up and running (10.6.8), but it really sucks at 1080p mkv files (tried XBMC, Plex, VLC). I also couldn't get my reciever to appropriately play audio from optical and video from HDMI. COuldn't get 5.1 audio either. Bummer

I already had it configured as a mac mini, only it was mac mini 5,1. Edit: It worked! Now that's what I call an easy fix Are you getting sound through hdmi? kramer2k
Not yet, I can get hdmi detected and it can see my receiver, but iTunes or anything that plays audio crashes, with no sound output. The iMac,10,1 is the only 9400m that actually has audio out through the mini display port (mac mini3,1 doesnt), so I may try changing the product to imac10,1 and see where I can get from there. I'm also on project osx forums, which is where I found how to see my hdmi http://www.projectosx.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=465&st=100 Oh, and Ive got temperature monitoring of all sensors with fakesmc 4.0 and the updated plugins. You can find them at projectosx under fakesmc section Edit: can you send me your dsdt? I'd love to see and compare yours and mine. I'll be sure to do the same when I get home tonight. ge0
Alright The solution I have now works pretty fine for me anyway. I hooked up hmdi to the "HDMI/DVI" port on my LG plasma + a RCA-stereo cable to the stereo input in the TV. This allowed the tv to mix in the audio with the picture from HDMI. I don't care about 5.1 right now since I don't have a sound system hooked up to that TV.
kramer2k
I'm glad that i was able to help. Now that SL is installed, it really has me wondering about lion. Have you tried yet? Or are you happy with a working SL? Oh, another question, I couldn't get my LAN to work with the RTL8xxx driver, and had to use the 2.0.6 version from realtek to get it to work. You got yours working with version 0.9.0 of RTL8xxx? Also, I couldn't get wireless to work without my LAN working. It was a strange thing where both interfaces were crossing over. I could.get an ip address with wan, but it would show up under my LAN, and the wan would have a self assigned ip. Really strange. I'm ok with only LAN since it is right next to my router though. ge0
I haven't tried Lion. It's a pretty weak computer and Lion needs a higher performance, so I'm not sure it's a good idea. I'm really happy with just a working SL. I just checked and yes, I got mine working with version 0.0.9.0 (which I downloaded from http://lnx2mac.blogs...osx-driver.html). I have the file in /System/Library/Extensions/, I don't know... maybe which extensions folder you put it in has different results? I also used kext wizard to intall it. Oh wait... are you sure you typed that right? I used RTL81xx... not RTL8xxx.
kramer2k
Yeah that's the driver, just missed a 1 tying on the iPad. Do me a favor. If you turn off airport while in SL, can you still access the net?
ge0
Yepp, turning off airport didn't affect the internet connection. Edit: can you send me your dsdt? I'd love to see and compare yours and mine. I'll be sure to do the same when I get home tonight. Mine is actually from the ionitx a-e, which is nearly a clone of the at3 Can you explain what a dsdt is? ge0
Nope, no dsdt. Should I have one? What is a dsdt? btw, do you want a copy of me Extra folder and S/L/E? What's the best way for me to share them in that case? Make sure that the RTL81xx driver is loaded (you can use Kext Wizard for that). I'm thinking maybe you have a different kext which is loaded instead, and that you need to delete it.
kramer2k
Just list what extensions you have in /extra/extensions Open and copy the contents of your org.chameleon.plist or your com.boot.plist (depends on what version of chameleon you have) into the reply window. That file should be in /extra too

kramer2k
no, not really. but to be honest, I don't have the time or patience to try to get HDMI audio. If the really smart people at tony_mac and osxproject can't get it, then there's no way that I'm going to be able to get it. I think my plan is to get a new ivy bridge mac mini when they come out. Hacking was fun when I had time, but that's a luxury I just don't have anymore.
