My cpu is shown as a 2.4 GHz Quad-Core Intel Xeon in about this mac.

Whilst it is showing the correct speed it is in fact a Q6600 Intel® Core™2 Quad.

If I edit com.apple.Boot.plist will it make any difference apart from the displayed text.

What I am trying to say is, will the OS (10.6.3) work any better/worse?

Mike

No, it will only display other infos, thats all, it has nothing to do with performance as far as I know.

that wasn't totally true in my case, after too much time spent trying to get vanilla speedstep working, I changed the FSB value in smbios.plist and that made the change. it finally worked. I don't know why, but it seems to me like if the values there are not only cosmetic.
