linkandzelda
Hello there, I've been using iATKOS v7 on my Dell 6400 for about a month now. I previouslt tried to install Snow Leopard 10.6.0. The installation and usage was fine but a few problems were present which caused me to not keep the OS installed. I have decided to try again with Snow Leopard but still don't have a solution to my problems... I would search but the forum search functions are not working!! Note: The following are different from most Dell 6400 machines: CPU: Intel Core Duo 1.6 Graphics: ATI Mobility Radeon x1400 Now on to the problems I experienced: 1. With my graphics card i had QE working with full 1280x800 resolution. Animations are fine except when i use exposé... The animation and performance when using exposé act like i dont have QE... Its like the performance of VESA graphics which i really didn't like considering it works fine with the rest of the animations... 2. One bug which really annoyed me... In some applications, where i hover the mouse over a place where i can type text the mouse would disappear completely. this is very annoying while trying to edit the notes of a presentation using Power Point through VMWare Fusion as i didnt see the mouse i didnt know where to click. i still have that issue with iATKOS so i think its an issue with my card. i can sort of live with it... Just wondering if someone has a solution. 3. This is the major issue which really annoyed me and made me leave the OS... My drive icons were switched round. For internal drives they displayed as shared servers, the ones with 3 people on it. and the usb external drives showed up as folders... I really didnt like this issue.. i could of fixed it by swapping the icons using CandyBar but i dont like the feeling of using this "quick fix" im sure there is a true fix available for this. I think thats all the problems i experieinced... If anyone can suggest anything to help me fix these issues then i will go back to snow Leopard with them fixed Thanks in advanced Link Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/214719-snow-leopard-on-dell-inspiron-6400e1505/ Share on other sites

That is what I had to use in order to run BOTH cores on my Dell and in order for my trackpad to work... This is all after updating to 10.5.8 btw. Look up "Voodoo Trackpad PS2" in google and you should find it easily. **Sorry if I am replying to an old thread, but I'm just wanting to help.
