johnbellone
Hey guys, This is not a Mac OS X problem, but I woke up this morning and my keyboard and mouse do not work. I have swapped out the keyboard, disconnected all USB devices and tried several ports. The keyboard works inside of the BIOS, but it did stop several times (while changing settings). I'm worried the host controller is bad on the board, but figured I would ask the community to see if anyone has had any similar issues. Thanks much, jb Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/214599-usb-controller-issues/ Share on other sites

johnbellone
I can't get in. Keyboard and mouse don't work and I do not have a PS/2 driver installed. LouCioccio
I set up in bios for USB. I am using a USB mouse, track ball and when I need a 6x8 wacom tablet all usb. When I first set the mother board it would not recognize the usb keyboard you know hit the delete key to get into bios and I had hook up a PS2 keyboard. When I realized to toggle all the usb (not sure which menu in bios) all was well. As far as I am concern get everything to be mac like including a usb keyboard. I do not run windows at all. I repair and or fix peoples windows machines; that pays for the hacks. I stopped using windows in 1997 when I ran our local parish school computer lab that had macs. I could not afford a real mac so I bought a Mac Clone a Motorola StarMax. The day it arrived Jobs quit licensing the MacOS to the clones. So what that little 603e became a G3 with a small daughter card. I bought a real one,G4, in 2000 and a used G5 in 2007. I have built 3 hacks and the latest two are full time. To my way of thinking try use the least amount kexts and go with a USB keyboard and mouse; try to get a Mac compatible and I think gives you the least amount of problems. Just my 2¢ I am sure other may not agree. ciao, Lou Cioccio Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/214599-usb-controller-issues/#findComment-1442110 Share on other sites
JTG78
Hey guys, This is not a Mac OS X problem, but I woke up this morning and my keyboard and mouse do not work. I'm worried the host controller is bad on the board, but figured I would ask the community to see if anyone has had any similar issues. Thanks much, jb I'm having a similar problem. About a week after I upgraded to 10.6.3 my keyboard and mouse stopped responding after booting into the OS (although, the mouse can move around a bit on screen - it just won't respond to clicks). I've had no problem in the bios and they work fine if I boot into Win7 (which I have on a second HD). I still haven't found a solution yet, however, I did discover a work around. I have LogMeIn installed on my system and I can log in remotely and control everything just fine. Interestingly enough, once I do this the keyboard and mouse start responding shortly thereafter. So far I've tried pretty much everything short of reinstalling the OS. However, that could prove rather problematic since I did try booting from Snow Leopard Install flash drive and it also had the Keyboard/Mouse response problem. And unlike my standard boot drive, I don't have LogMeIn installed on it. It's hard to tell whether this is an OS or hardware problems since it has symptoms of both. To be specific Win7 works fine but my 10.6 install drive (which originally worked without any difficulty) now has the same issue.
