BatcOuntrY
Hopefully this can help others that had a problem with 10.6.3. as I was getting a black screen after the upgrade. I replaced ATI4600Controller, ATIFramebuffer, and ATISupport with the 10.6.2 kexts and everything is working again. mactosh
Hi, Is there any where I can Download the 10.6.2 kexts as i was dumb enough not to back them up??? Also when I updated from 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 my graphics cards profile changed in system profiler. It now reads "radeon HD4890" I can only boot in safe mode now. Strange things happening on my hackintosh. Cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/214242-1063-with-4670/#findComment-1439308 Share on other sites
genitiv
Here are the ones I've replaced: ATI4600Controller ATIFramebuffer ATIRadeonX2000(not included in attachment) ATISupport I added ATIRadeonX2000.kext because I put my Dev ID in there (Ive got a 4650 GPU) Its almost working. now my prob is that im stuck at 1024 x 768. QE isn't working and although system profiler recognizes the card as 4650 series, it shows a VRAM of 256MB instead of 1GB. If I try to start Blender it doesnt even recognize any VRAM. Does anybody have some experience with this GPU/ graphics card(EAH4650) and 10.6.3? Before updating everything worked fine. Im using PC_EFI 10.5 since my card requires it and I have no patched DSDT. might adding a dsdt.aml file help in my case? UPDATE By now Ive got this Problem: Im able to boot in safe mode and get full res and VRAM=1GB is correctly detected so i guess QE/ CI is working. (i repaired permissions and changed framebuffer to motmot) but if i boot normally i get a solid blue screen or - if i type "graphics mode"= 1680x1050x32 (which is my native res) i get a coloured mess + normal cursor in top of everything which is working absolutely perfect! (nevertheless i cant click anywhere/ the background shows no reaction) any ideas? Macslap
Thanks for posting that fix. I have the same card and had the same problem when updating to 10.6.3. I found this thread and your solution saved the day. I find on that people on this forum at times don't post about their solutions to help others so I really appreciate your post. I would have never guessed to replace those 3 files with the old ones. So in short...this soultion worked for me too. I replaced ATI4600Controller, ATIFramebuffer, and ATISupport with the 10.6.2 kexts and everything is working again. That helped me after 10.6.2 to 10.6.3 update on Sapphire Ultimate HD4670, too. Replace the files, boot with a parameter -x (safe mode), replace the files again with the "kext heleper b7", repair permission with "kext utility", reboot. Here is the files.
