I've had this laptop for two days now, and everything works except for the WiFi (Intel 5100) and possibly the card reader, haven't tested it nor am I bothered with it.

Both cores of the P8400 work fine with no glitches. Audio, GFX... all fine.

Sleep I managed to actually get working - as in, it goes to sleep - but waking up is another issue. I press the power, hard drive spins up, lights turn on, screen stays blank. Same deal if I apply the DSDT lid fix when closing and reopening the lid. If I don't apply it, the screen goes off but sleep never activates.

I've attached my DSDT. Could one of you guys eyeball it and tell me what's wrong?

Oh, yeah.  The following kexts are in effect :

Extra\E :

FakeSMC

OpenHaltRestart

SleepEnabler

VoodooBattery

VoodooMonitor

VoodooPowerACPI

VoodooTSCSync

S/L/E :

VoodooHDA (2.56)

VoodooPS2

As an aside, VoodooHDA keeps causing a kernel panic at startup. It seems random; repeated reboots (2 or 3) eventually get past it. Anyone have a clue?

Hi Stone-D.

The problem is very simple to solve.

You just need to backup and remove the AppleHDA.kext from Volume/your drive/S/L/E/

to another location.

Like I usually move it to Volume/Snow/Disabled/OrigExtns/

You can use any existing LEo or SnowLeo installation on another partition, or boot from the DVD of Leo installer,

coz that is what I use, in case things go screwy. And run the mv -Rf commands for moving the AppleHDA.kext to another location as I mentioned.

Hope my instructions are clear and simple to follow.

Then, reboot using a -f -v flag and check the output.

If you are using SnowLeo in 32bit mode then regular booting is fine.

However, if you want to use it in 64 bit mode then you'll need to reboot using force flag in 32 bit mode,

Then, run the rebuild kext cache commands and then reboot using normal start up for 64 bit mode.

For a normal startup that directly boots into 64 bit mode, you'll be needing to edit the com.Apple.boot.plist file

that has the following flags as kernel parameters:

arch=x86_64 -x64

That should fix things.

Be in touch and let us know.

Is that it? Just that to fix the startup crash? Great, I'll check it out in 10 mins. Waiting for a driver to finish downloading on Win7, then i'll switch over.

Howabout the sleep issues? Any idea?

Hi Buddy.

Let me know when your VoodooHDA error is solved or not.

And, about the sleep issue. Well, Im not the right guy. Coz I'm not into fixing sleep. Sowwy.

It's way too messy and I never have time to fix it using DSDT and other couple of KEXTs and System files.

Maybe you can ask BlackCH, DB1 or bikinifarm - fellas. They are the "gurus" of this section. [search em ;)]

It'd have been great if you'd been using the same mobo as me (i.e. a desktop),

Coz these guys have it all figured out, Patched, and Fixed.

But, If I do come across your model and it's fix.. I'll surely post the link.

Coz I'm on Insanelymac today. And Just applied the 10.6.3 Delta Update. :)
