athena
Hi I have upgraded my motherboard to a Gigabyte-X58A-UD5 board (with Core i7 920) and the system will only boot (without a kernal panic) by using the flag CPUS=1 and it boots with no sound also. I followed this guide for the X58-UD5: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=185097 Is this due to the DSDT being incorrect as the board architecture is different? If so, can anyone help me regarding this issue as it is very frustrating to have this machine but only be able to use one core. Thanks in advance. athena
UPDATE: This is apparently working with GA-X58A-UD7. Now kernel panic every boot "No HPETS available and won't even boot with cpus=1. Regretting getting this board now as everything was working with my old P5Q! PrinceDwi
This is a shame that this mobo isn't as supported as the X58A-UD7. Considering how much more expensive the X58A-UD7 is to the UD5...you'd think people would be jumping on this. Bruce Wang
From what I see, both GA-X58-UD5 and GA-X58A-UD7 work well with Snow Leopard. http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...10.6.0#Gigabyte http://wiki.osx86project.org/wiki/index.ph...10.6.2#Gigabyte Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213596-gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud5-only-boots-with-cpus1-and-no-sound/#findComment-1434313 Share on other sites

Thanks in advance. try using kakewalk instead and use the ud7 files. you'll still have no audio but it's a start Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213596-gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud5-only-boots-with-cpus1-and-no-sound/#findComment-1434875 Share on other sites
athena
Thanks for the replies and help, it turned out being faulty and I ended up replacing it with the UD7 which is now working pretty much perfectly, apart from my PCI Wifi card: TP Link-951N which kernel panics upon use, even though it was working fine on my Asus P5Q Anyway, I'm back up and running So, no more Windows for me - until the football streams are back on Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213596-gigabyte-ga-x58a-ud5-only-boots-with-cpus1-and-no-sound/#findComment-1435566 Share on other sites
