I recently got a new Acer Aspire One (AOD250-1417). I have Windows 7 Ultimate installed on it already, and I would like to dual boot with the latest OSX if possible. I have been searching and searching and I can't find a guide/tutorial that suits my needs and questions.

First of all, will the latest Snow Leopard work on the newer aspire one models? I've read things that say it won't work with netbooks, but everything I find when I search seems to be out of date. What's the best / easiest method to install it, and will I have to install an earlier version of leopard and then upgrade? Are there any special drivers, fixes, etc involved?

Also, since this is a netbook and doesn't have a dvd drive, how would I go about moving an osx install image from my windows 7 pc to an external usb hard drive so I can boot off that to install to the netbook?

And lastly, what's the best way to dual boot with windows 7 already installed at the beginning of the partition? Are there any bootloaders or things like that I should use?

I am just trying to get all of my ducks in a row before I decide if it will be worth it or not to install it and I want to make sure that everything will be functional or there really won't be any use to have it installed on there anyways. Sorry for the wall of questions, and thanks in advance for reading.

Hello,

Yes you can!

I have installed 10.6.2 and XP.

You have to use Notebookinstaller.

The wifi is a problem. You have to use a USB device or change the PCI card.

There is a lot of topic about this hack.

Good luck!

I need all files for an TOSHIBA Satellite A500-1GL... who can help me?

i will install snow leopard :)

Hey, this topic is for D250 not Tosh*** ;-)

Try an install with the "Myhack" (google.com) method. Choose the chcocolate kernel.

Read on this forum about the 10.6.2 update and i3 processor.

Good luck!

  • 1 month later...

Just finished upgrading my Acer One D250 running SL 10.6.3 to an OCZ SSD drive and I am very impressed with the speed increase!Startup is blazing fast, once the gray apple screen comes up I'm at the desktop in 4 revolutions of the spinning progress circle. Haven't timed it yet but from power on to working desktop seems to be under 20 seconds. Programs so far are opening very fast, click the mouse and they're open.I have to say this is what this little Atom netbook needed.

I think I now have the perfect Hackintosh netbook,100% working and fast

Edit: i should say 100% working for my needs not 100% working.?I never use sleep and I don't connect to an external display so I'm not sure if they work or not.

Did you have to change the Bios settings, and if so, what were these changes?

Do you think that a Mac formatted hard drive with Snow Leopard already installed would boot or would there have to be patches added and a boot installer used first?

Thanks.
