rigobot
Hi all! I've recently installed SL 10.6 (vanilla) on my machine that has a intel e2200 dual core processor. I want to change the processor with a more powerfull quad core, the question is: is this operation problematic for the succesfull boot of the operating system?...should i change something in the kernel configuration (any plist or similar...)? thank you for any help! rigobot Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/213344-change-processor/ Share on other sites
mdnz01
If everything works right now, I don´t see any problems. I had the same processor as you, and I upgraded to a core i7 with a new motherboard, and even that booted up. mdnz01
For everyday tasks like surfing and IMing, nah not really. Gives a good overall boost in applications like Photoshop however. I did a reinstall anyway, since there were too many drivers for my old motherboard (wrong dsdt, wrong ethernet driver etc etc), and I couldn't be bothered deleting them and replacing them with the right ones. Shouldn't be necesarry for you though, since you'll be keeping the same motherboard.
