Hi!

I'm having problems with this wireless card. I read that it works but i can't.

The wireless utility can't find networks, always says: "No device!"

I installed this package -> http://www.ralinktech.com/support.php?s=3

Some screenshots (in spanish)

Ethernet doesn't work too (Atheros AR8132)

Thanks!

I had this once on my eeepc 901, but a reboot solved it.

I'm using the same drivers a you do, so they do work. If you can boot another OS you should try that, maybe that will make it recognize the card (that worked for me on an older laptop).

Just to be sure, check again if you really have a 2860, maybe its a 2870, you will need a different driver for that model.

Are you using a DSDT.aml? If so, your own?

I tried with a lot of things like repair permission, reboot, reinstall, etc.

Yes, I have a Ralink RT2860 based wireless card, and the Device ID and Vendor ID is the same that you can see in the info.plist

I installed Snow Leopard from retail DVD + netbookinstaller (+ voodooHDA + voodoopowermini)

EDIT: the Asus has winXP preinstalled with Ralink RT2860 drivers

I have the same problem, I installed the driver from the Ralink website but the wireless utility says 'No device'.

I just did 'View PCI Device/Vendor ID' in the 'OSx86 Tools utility' and it seems like the WiFi card isn't recognized.

It says 'RaLink Unknown device...

Yes, I use OSx86tools" and says the same but the Devide ID ant the Vendor ID is the same as you can see in the info.plist

I think this is impossible until Ralink releases an official driver

EDIT: please, reply if you found a way

Possible solution (not tested by me):

May cause KP

Mitch Malone try this (it worked for my 1000H with a ralink RT2860 WiFi card):

1. get the leo 10.5.7 combo update from Apple and extract the IOATAFamily.kext with Pacifist (it should be v 2.0.1);

2. copy this file to your /Extra/GeneralExtensions folder and run UpdateExtra (it was installed in your /Extra folder by the NetbookInstaller.app): this is mandatory as it will update the Extensions.mkext in your /Extra folder as well as the Extensions.mkext in /S/L (if you don't, any *.kext changes done at /E/GE won't be loaded by the kernel);

3. reboot (your boot time should be much shorter...)

4. go to the Ralink web site and download their PCI drivers for for the RT2860 (they are rated for 10.5), install and before you reboot run the Update Extra again (I'm not sure this is required, but it doesn't harm);

5. at reboot, you might be asked to configure a new Network interface and an application named WirelessUtilityCardbusPCI that scans for WiFi networks should be launched at login.

Let us know.
