Espionage724
Just wondering. When I used to use OS X 10.6, this ethernet adapter was not supported. The method I used before to get it to work was to replace PCIFamily.kext with eureka's copy and then bam (after editing AppleYukon2.kext too) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/212558-marvell-yukon-88e8038-on-snow-leopard-yet/ Share on other sites

sendblink23
I am also wondering the same thing, I have that same Ethernet Lan on my Acer Aspire 3680 According to Windows my Device ID is: 4352 - Vendor ID: 11AB Its also recognized in About This Mac on Snow 10.6 with the same ID's... just not working I know I used to have it working in the past on Leopard 10.5.5 & 10.5.6, but after updating to 10.5.7 & 10.5.8... and now Snow it doesn't work for me using the old process. I have reverted it back to its original Snow kexts incase someone comes up with a Fix. Espionage724
Really? Nobody? Finally I got mines working bro Actually its still kind of the same process... but anyways way simpler.. I'm on 10.6.2 just incase.. Place my attached files with "Kext Utility": IOPCMCIAFamily.kext <- Super Important, its what makes the Ethernet Lan to get a connection(to activate) IONetworkingFamily.kext You only have to alter: IONetworkingFamily.kext /Contents/PlugIns/Yukon2.kext/Contents/Info.plist Change any of the Yukon that has a close name to: Yukon 88E8038 Alter in the middle something similar to this: <string>0x435211ab</string> <-- My ID is 4352 And don't forget to fix the second name as well Yukon 88E8038 After they both of the files have been installed... Shut Down computer.. connect your Ethernet Lan cable Power ON... and boot with: -v at the end you should see the name of your Yukon Loaded with an Adress IOPCMCIAFamily.kext.zip IONetworkingFamily.kext.zip Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/212558-marvell-yukon-88e8038-on-snow-leopard-yet/#findComment-1429693 Share on other sites

Shut Down computer.. connect your Ethernet Lan cable Power ON... and boot with: -v at the end you should see the name of your Yukon Loaded with an Adress I already did that with Kalyway 10.5.2 With Chunnan IOPciFamily test7 and i got my Marvell Yukon 88E8038 working right Away (and My Firewire didn't screw up) But this time With a retail Install of 10.6.3 + Combo Update 10.6.4 i've tried IOPCMCIAFamily.kext you were providing in your post (i know it's from Chunnan) and it worked right away for my Ethernet card, but the problem is that it screwed up my Firewire, couldn't see it anymore in System Profiler, so here's what i did: i took the IOPciFamily.kext from within IOPCMCIAFamily.kext and installed it over the original one with kext utility, and you know what ?, it worked, i have my network working and i can see My External Firewire Device in System profiler, but still can't select it as an audio interface in Audio and Midi Configuration, but that's another story. That means, if you don't want to screw up External Firewire(Mine is Behringer FCA 202) just use the IOPCIFamily.kext within IOPCMCIAFamily.kext. Just my two cents Darklock Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/212558-marvell-yukon-88e8038-on-snow-leopard-yet/#findComment-1510809 Share on other sites
