pirloui
I just bought an old G4 Cube, and want to turn it into a file server / media center. Are there any recommended ITX boards that would fairly cheap and low power consumption, while being able to play 1080p? In the days of the first Atom mITX boards, the northbridge used most energy. Has this changed with Core i3? Thanks for any info. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/212529-mini-itx-recommendations/ Share on other sites

pirloui
I have been looking around a bit, and it seems the Zotac GeForce 9300 ITX is getting most attention since the Intel Atom boards. It's a LGA775 board, so it consumes more than an Atom. about 30W idle apparently, versus 20W for a Atom 330 + ION, which is also pretty good, as it can read 1080p. However, Atom needs hacked kernel; which I don't like. Zotac also has a H55 i3/5/6 board, but it has Intel graphics that probably won't play nice with Mac OS.
