failo
Here are the specs: Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD3 CPU: i7 860 GfX: ATI 4870 (can swap for GT7300 if needed) HD: 1TB Seagate BIOS: IDE is switched off, GSATA too. SATA is set to AHCI mode. All serial ports are switched off. My DVD drive is SATA. Distro: SnowOSX 3.6 Intel only and iPortable Unfortunately I can't even post my kernel panics cause it is happening so quick I can't even reed the errors. I'm trying to install it from SnowOSX 3.6. System boots into EmpireEFI, Tony's mac86 boot CD without a problem. After swapping DVD's it seems to load every kext on the install DVD, which is normal. Then I get an msg: ACPI Table not found. Starting Darwin. Press any key to continue. After pressing 'any key' it loads few lines and says smth about ACPI and CPU haltend and switches off. I tried to add dsdt for the board I found on tonys forums (I assume it is only for the board do I have to change the CPU part too?? ) After applying DSDT for my board, the loading process doesn't stop at: CPI Table not found. Starting Darwin. It goes directly too CPU Haltend and reboots... I tried too boot with only one core, with different boot flags like: busratio=20, fsb=133 cpus=1 in various variations but it doesn't even loads to the gray apple screen! It just reboots. I hope this is a common problem and somebody might have a solution for me!!! everdone
From your description it sounds as if you are trying to install from a Distro DVD not a Retail DVD. Tonymacx's BootCD and a Retail DVD should give you a good install on this board. You would need a 'busratio' bootflag if starting from 10.6.0 until you upgraded to 10.6.2. Once initially installed you would need some additional kexts and upgrade to 10.6.2 to get it running smoothly, also the ATI video card can cause some grief unless you have the right bootloader and kexts (you wind up with a black or blue screen at the end of the boot process). Do a search in the Graphics Driver section on this site for hints on how to get your card working. You can use his ##### to finish the install once OSX is on the HD. failo
thanks for your quick response! Yes I use modified 10.6.0 distro - SnowOSX 3.6. It will take some time for me to get a retail version. So at the moment I'm stuck with this one and iPortable. Anybody had luck with SnowOSX?
