I've had a heck of a time installing the last day or so.

Setup:

Asus p6x58d premium MOBO ACHI, and acpi on.

gtx 260

only the snow leopard hd, and the cd rom connected sata. Not to the 6gb/s jmicron, but to the ICH10R. HD is connected to SATA port 1, otherwise it doesn't show up in disk utility.

I am using the usb drive method. 8gb. formatted and restored mac os x onto it.

I've already done this with my exact setup once, so I thought I'd be able to either use the same method, or even restore from my time machine back up. But here are the problems.

1. myHack 1.0 RC5 r87. This was the way I was able to previously install it. Actually went quite smoothly. Especially compared to this. When I attempt this now, bootloader won't run. I get no spinning line, just the blinking underscore. Never changes.

2. Also attempted myHack 1.0 final, and chameleon 2.0 rc4, neither bootloader works.

3. Empire EFI is booting from cd, and then displays my usb drive install. So I was able to install. Failed at the end of course.

4. Upon restart, and going through empire again. I am completely unable to boot from the new install, in any manner, -v -x -s -f . It starts failing after "press any key to continue" but goes very fast and is hard to catch.

I've seen "Kext loading is disabled" and "fsck failed" and see that the kexts aren't loading one by one. Ultimately the machine shuts itself down. I am trying to piece this together and am thinking that it has something to do with the format of the drives? I'm still learning a great deal, but could use some pointers.

boot is the bootloader, but can I install the bootloader myself. I downloaded the newest chameleon and note multiple boot files. booth, boothp, etc. can someone explain this.

Should I be using PCEFI?

I liked how easy myHack was the first time, but would like to understand how it's working as well.

I've read the thread about the p6x58d premium, and have their dsdt and extras folders, but just want to get it booted right now. and the only info on that page about installing got me where I am.

Thanks a lot anyone.
