apple_core Posted March 3, 2010 Share Posted March 3, 2010 Lots of people like the Gigabyte boards. You can look at the GA-EX-* or the GA-X58A-* series. The i7 930 should work in any LGA 1366 socket based motherboard. Read the "Kakewalk" thread to see mrjanek's installer for a number of the Gigabyte boards. Your choice will probably be dictated more so by your needs such as the number of PCI slots, USB 3 or 2, eSATA, firewire, etc. Post your results when you get a machine running! giin Posted March 3, 2010 Share Posted March 3, 2010 I recommend the GigaByte GA-EX58-UD5. Just did a build with it (i7-920) and everything is absolutely perfect. I used an existing Nvidia 8800GT 512MB as the GPU. Installation method was just Kakewalk + Retail-DVD image restored on USB. Have updated everything through system update and haven't needed any post-installation hacking. I can't imagine this being any easier.
