pawz
I'm presently re-tooling my current desktop machine as my new media box as my previous p4 wasn't capable of 720/1080p. My current desktop is a 2.3ghz Core2Quad on an Intel DG45ID with ICH10. I'd like to replace the board when I hand the hardware down to the media box because the Intel board a) takes about ten years to boot up has buggy USB and so far hasn't managed to get Snow Leopard on there. I wouldn't mind being able to squeeze a few extra mhz out of the cpu if possible. 2.6ghz would be good. Can anyone recommend a 775 motherboard that works well with Snow Leopard, can overclock, and is fairly common and easy to obtain. Thanks. Sorry if this is the wrong forum for this, I couldn't decide which would be most appropriate. longboatman
There are plenty of good boards out there for 775. I use the Gigabyte EP45-UD3R, but any of their similar boards are good and there is a wealth of forum support info for these boards. Just checking quickly, Newegg has the EP45-UD3P at $110 after MIR currently. I can easily overclock a 6600 2.4 GHz to well over 3 GHz (air cooled) - stable on Snow, Ubuntu 9.10 and Win XP.
