Hi, I'm trying to install Snow on my HP dv5040 laptop but all I'm getting is the dreaded "Still waiting for root device" I think I tried all the distros out there and now I'm even trying regular Leo distros but all give me the same error message. I took the HD out and changed the jumper from CS to Master but no change?

I seached through a lot of forums and the installation has been successfully done many times but I seem not to be able to find any answer on this nagging question.

Please I need your help

Cheers

Well, i gave the same answer on other topic yesterday. I don't think there are drivers for your chipset.. i can be mistaken but, i couldn't find any for a friends lappy just recently. "Still waiting for root device" means that the HD controller is not working :(

Don't know man, probably those dv5000 don't use the ATI 200 chipset.. is all i can think of. My friend's lappy uses same chipset and i got the same result, "still waiting...". No luck looking around.. only old dead stuff. But, keep the faith :graduated:

Stay safe..
