Hey there everyone. First, let me thank you for taking time to read this post and for helping me. I know there are no shortages of requests (as believe me, I've read most of them!) and there are just as many methods and ideas regarding the issues...but alas, none seem to have worked for me.

The Issue - Ok, so I've got a fresh snow leopard installation using 'Mac OS X Server 10.6 (experimental).vmwarevm' (google it), I've done all apple updates and installed VMTools + sound drivers. Nothing else. It's fresh, its new and its working well so far. Now, what I want is for it to register my nvidia 8800gts 640mb card.  At present, its displaying the following;

Display:

Type: GPU

Bus: PCI

VRAM (Total): 128 MB

Device ID: 0x0405

Revision ID: 0x0000

Displays:

Display:

Resolution: 1680 x 1050

Pixel Depth: 32-Bit Color (ARGB8888)

Main Display: Yes

Mirror: Off

Online: Yes

Vendor ID: 0x15ad

Which, is no good. So, what are my PC's specs?

CPU : Intel Q6600 G0 quad core

Mobo : gigabyte ep45-ud3lr

Graphics Card : BFG 8800GTS 640MB GDDR3 (http://www.ixbt.com/video2/images/g80-2/bfg-8800gts-front.jpg)

Memory : 8gigs 1066mhz DDR2

Sound : On Board

Monitors : 2x22'' LG Monitors plugged into the DVI outs

What I've read/tried : I've seen and read it all, most of which I didn't understand. My ultimate aim is to get AVID + Final Cut Pro experience, so I need to get this working as soon as possible. I've read up on 'strings', 'nvinject', 'xtexts', 'GeForece8xxxGLDriver.bundle' and christ knows what else. I've tried copying and pasting various lines into a hundred different plists and am starting to give up.

I don't understand most of it at the best of times, I'm usually well technically minded, and i can follow clear instructions (he says!) but there are just so many alternatives, uncertainties and abbreviations I get lost in this really fast.

I've read about Charmion as a boot - but have no need for it...(I don't think!)

What I'd like someone to do: Clear, simple instructions (with video+images)?. That would be amazing.

Perhaps a very brief explination on the main terms, who does what, whats outdated, what may be of use ..but most of all, some clear cut suggestions on getting my grahpics card installed and recognised so I can start editing would be AWESOME!

Like i said, pictures would be awsome if possible.

If someones willing to dedicate some time helping me out with this, upon completion I will be willing to make a donation over paypal...  :)

Little baby jesus help me please!  :P

But vmware dont have supported GPU drivers... So there is nothing wrong. Remember Vmware DONT show your real hardware like gpu, sata controller, network card, soundcard to the virtual os, but uses virtuelle versions of them and that is what the os see... and they do NOT have drivers for the gpu.

If you want it supported then you have to install as a real os and not a virtual os.
