sephira
Hi all, A bit confused about this.... What kind of install method needs to be done in order to be able to safely use apple updates, just one using a vanilla kernal? My hackintosh will be on a PM55 motherboard with i7 processor so from what I have read I should be able to use a retail 10.6.2 DVD to install osx with a bootloader (chameleon by the looks of things). If I do this method will that be ok for apple updates? Or can it not be done? Thanks for any help, Matt Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/211301-does-vanilla-kernal-safe-software-updates/ Share on other sites

mdnz01
Always check on sites like InsanelyMac if it's safe to update to a newer version. Remember, you're not running an authentic Apple machine and you never know what Apple comes up with. So no guarantees, sorry. audit13
I always recommend using TM to create a backup just in case the update porks your installation. This is what I did before each update.
