ZanderCross
So I have successfully installed SL 10.6 on my Vostro 1700. Everything works except the following: -No Sleep mode (pretty typical from what I can tell) -Doesn't Shutdown and Restart without holding down the power button after clicking one or the other (Also rather typical anymore) -My battery is not recognized by Mac and so I only know when my battery is critical when the orange light on the laptop flashes. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get the battery meter working? I have not found a thread specific for the Vostro battery. Also, just out of curiosity is anyone else out there even running SL on their Vostro 1700? I see threads about the 1700's and just Leo, but I don't see any about just SL on them. Another question would be if I can combo update with 10.6.2 easily? I know to backup my extensions first of course, but I was wondering if anyone has done it on the Vostro 1700. I will probably try this weekend after I make a shadow copy of my HDD and backup extensions first and just see what happens. Also, if anyone has any suggestions on the first two items that don't work (Sleep mode and Shutdown and restart) please let me know! Thanks everyone! These threads have helped me a ton in getting multiple PCs using Leo and SL! P.S. just in case it matters my CPU is the 2.0GHz and I have the 8600M GT GPU. If anyone would like to know how I installed SL on my Vostro I can try to retrace my steps and help anyone if I can just ask! Thanks! Update 2-24-10 ********************************************** So I did a combo update this weekend on the Vostro from 10.6 to 10.6.2 and it worked without a hitch. Just used the software update feature built in and downloaded and installed. Still no where on the battery meter though. Tried a different bundle of kexts and settings mentioned here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=110606 but it didn't make a difference. When I had plain Leo installed I had the meter working. Not sure what to try. Any help would be appreciated! xangel9626
So I have successfully installed SL 10.6 on my Vostro 1700. How did you do it. If you could, list everything you used. I have a 1700 and once I get it installed I may be able to figure out the battery at a minimum.
