Hi all (:

Have a little question I could do with some help with.

If laptops ahave different motherboards, but share the same chipset, does that mean an install of SL thats works on one will work on the other? (assuming they had the safe gfx card/wireless/sound).

Basically I have seen someone successfully install SL on a Toshiba laptop that shares the same chipset (PM55) as I laptop I am looking at getting (clevo w860u). I know the gfx on the clevo and the rest of the components will work but just stuck with this motherboard/chipset question.

Also as a side note, can the fact the motherboards have difference bios's make any difference?

I can't speak to the specific models that you listed... I used a Dell Mini install method to successfully load, and boot my Acer Aspire One.

Like you eluded to - the CPU and graphics chip sets were the same. The BIOS might make a difference... It did not for me.

The only way to know for sure is to take the plunge and try it out. :D
