joedr
All, I managed to install SL on my P5K-VM motherboard following some of the guides in here. So far, I got working audio, NIC, video, USB, SATA and PATA. The machine is running well at the moment and I am trying to finish some of the minor details like a slow restart/reboot, etc. However, I ran into a small detail that I am almost convinced that I missed a kext or something. When I click "About this mac", it shows the following: when I have a Q6600 Core2 Quad instead of a Xeon CPU and 800 Mhz when on the BIOS it shows 1066. The amount of memory is showing is correct. I used another Leopard (10.5.6 iPC) installation on another HDD to be able to install SL and there it was showing the right CPU and speeds. Here are the kexts that I installed to get it running: AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext IONetworkingFamily.kext ApplePS2Controller.kext LegacyAppleRTC.kext EvOreboot.kext NullCPUPowerManagement.kext FakeSMC.kext SleepEnabler.kext IOATAFamily.kext IONetworkingFamily.kext LegacyHDA.kext NVdarwin.kext VoodooHDA_21X64.kext Can anyone point if I am missing any chipset or mobo kext that may be preventing the CPU and mem to be recognized? Here are the mobo specs: Chipset: Intel ICH9 (DevID 2923, 4 port SATA) & G33 Gfx: Intel GMA3100 (I am using a 7300GT at the moment) IDE: JM368 Audio: Realtek 883 Network: Marvell Yukon 88E8056 Thanks to all in advanced! joedr
Any pointers on this one? I searched around and could not find anything! Thanks! krooger
I believe it is working correctly. I have the same mobo. I also believe the reason for this is that there aren't any Quad Core Macs yet, and the closest thing they have is an Quad Core Xeon, unless somebody can point out otherwise. Other than that, I think you shouldn't worry about it too much and get the other things working. joedr
krooger, What yours is showing? I am not that concerned about the CPU not been shown correctly. I am concerned about the speed of the memory that it is off. BTW... CPU Speed is accurate! Thoughts?
