SIDDD
I have been trying to install mac os snow leopard 10.6.2 using SnowOSXUniFlash1.0 Everything goes well to the point that I have formatted one of my laptop HDD to HFS+ (Journaled) format and applied the DSDT patch. But, when I click the continue button on the welcome screen, nothing seems to happen. its just the colorful blob that starts rotating and alternatively changes into the mouse pointer. I am stuck at this point. Did any one else have this problem too ? I need a solution ...its driving me crazy. Target computer: HP Pavilion laptop dv9005tx please reply on sidd_green@yahoo. com please advice anyone No, the external hard disk cannot be used. I tried it myself. Use a flash drive of 8GB or more to extract the files using USBit. (provided in the downloaded file) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210751-snowosxuniflash/#findComment-1411520 Share on other sites
SIDDD
I have snowosxuniflash can I use portable hard drive insted of flash drive? and how to duel boot with window 7, when window 7 first installed and i am trying install snowosxuniflash over it? and any other instructions for me tell me........ So here am I ...to tell U how to Install the Snow Leopard on ur PC After you have downloaded the image file of SnowOSXUniFlash1.0 use the USB IT to restore the image to a flash drive. Do not try and waste your time to get the image on a Hard Disk, I wasted like 4 days trying to get it done. Its just not worth it. Get an iPod and use that. Or any Flash Drive. During the restore process using USB IT make sure that the volume name is "SnowOSXUniFlash" without quotes. After you have the Flash media ready after restoring the image file reboot your computer. Make sure you allow your computer to boot from the USB Drive (Use BIOS options) to do so. In my BIOS options I had the Native SATA support --> disabled After the Darwin Boot loader loads up, if you have a 32Bit processor then type -x32 in the advanced bootup options (they come when you hid any key when the reverse countdown starts) Now after waiting some time with those booting option lines that just scroll across your screen (be patient...the pink Mac OS screen will definitely open up after some time) start the process in english. (As if you could instantaneously learn the other languages So not you must be on the Welcome Screen. Go to the Disk Utilities from the top bar and choose an EMPTY disk partition to load the Mac OS to. After clicking on the partition...click Erase tab....Choose HFS+ (Journaled) and type in your choice of name for your Mac OS Disk name (Mine reads SnowOSX) Hit erase and you will be done. Close the disk utilities. This will return you to the Welcome Screen. Click Continue and accept the Agreement. I did not carry out the DSDT Patch and it worked fine with me. In case After accepting the agreement and going onto the choose drive to install screen, you do not see the Hard Disk partition that you just erased and made HFS+(Journaled) then go back and carry out the DSDT Patch (I think it does some magic to make the drive appear as one of the options) Now you can see your HFS+(Journaled) partition and select it. Click Install. Once on the install screen go to customize and choose the Legacy ATA option. As I installed my MAC OS on my HP Pavilion dv9005tx notebook, I also selected the notebook patch. Do not unselect the PS/2 option. Otherwise the notebook keyboard and touch pad will not work. Click done. Then Click Install. I had some troubles earlier when I was not selecting the correct packages to install from the customize menu. The install used to start and then the install progress bar animation used to freeze. The freezing means that install is not happening and its no use waiting. Try to juggle with some different packages than me and maybe the install process will continue. Once the install completes you will get the Install Success screen. Makes you happier in life Just reboot and go into Windows (Thats what I had before installing Mac OS). Use EasyBCD to correct you boot loader so that you have a Multi-Boot. The process is really simple ask the GOD.oh GOOGLE !! Enjoy !! ps: Ya some hardware things do not work after the install such as the sound, graphics card, wi-fi, touchpad tap, etc. but then GOD will help you if you wish mail me for any queries: sidd_green@yahoo.com Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210751-snowosxuniflash/#findComment-1415582 Share on other sites
Geryon
Hey all. Trying to get my first Hackintosh going, and since I don't have access to a Mac of any kind here, I went for SnowOSXUniFlash. I have an ASUS p5q pro with an ATI 4850. Anyway, with some effort I managed to get it installed, but here's the problem: It doesn't recognize any external media. I plug in a FAT32 formatted USB key (with the .kexts I need to install to get my networking going) - it won't mount them. Disk Utility says that it's there, but won't mount it, even after a "repair". I should point out that when I put in the USB key with the install image on it, it mounts it and can read it just fine, so it has something to do with the fact that it's not a Mac format, maybe? I even got desperate and burnt a DVD with the files on it. Same deal, Disk Utility sees the disk but it won't mount it. It seems like I could do get this working easily enough if I could find some way to get files onto the machine. I have to boot with -v -x (verbose and safe mode I believe?) otherwise i get a kernel panic with the ATI driver. Anyone have a tip for me? Geryon
I managed to solve my problem and figured I'd post for others with the same style of issue. The problem was that the video driver was crashing on startup if I didn't go into safe boot mode - however, if I did that, then I couldn't mount any external windows-based media such as burnt cds or USB keys to get the required drivers on to the machine. Problem. The solution in my case was to delete the ATIRadeon2000* files in System/Library/Extensions during a safe boot, and then reboot in non-safe mode, which then worked just fine with USB. I then installed my 4850 using this thread. Method 1 worked just fine. Rebooting again, video worked and I was able to fairly effortlessly install network and sound on my P5Q pro using this thread. Workstation now appears to be working nicely. I have no idea if it's all working correctly yet, but it appears to be. Thanks dudes. Next step will be ordering a G4 or G5 case off of Ebay and moving the guts of this PC into it. Time for some Dremel action I think.
