aeronux
I have EP43-DS3L (not sure if it's the same as yours without the L), also on the same processor as you. My 10.6 installation using ##### + retail DVD worked fine for firewire. My firewire ports are working correctly. polkaholga
funny conversation EP-45 DS3 = Texas Instruments firewire chip onboard EP-45 DS3L = no firewire chip onboard ...indeed ! I'm on 10.6.3 with the help of Blackosx guide, on the same mobo as you have. Though more or less a n00b i was able to get my alc889a running wth HDALegacy.kext and DSDT patching thanks to 140941 and TheKings guide over the last 2 weeks. I'd love to get my onboard Fw working, but can't find something similar that could help me. Maybe i'm just blinded ! Could you please point me in the right direction and help me to enable it ? The only info i have so far, it uses a TSB43AB23 chip and the id is 104c:8024. What else is needed to get this on my DSDT and more important how can i fix it there ? Anything would be highly appreciated... peach-os
actually my EP45 machine is disambled. the last update was 10.6.2 and I never had any issues with the firewire. look at my guide here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=132695&hl= I guess it might be related to you dsdt -install disabler.kext in extra and boot without dsdt. the only thing I used dsdt for on this board was the cmos reset fix. my dsdt was also compiled without the new hpet hack - of course no speedstep - but my pci cards did work. with hpet no pci cards, but I can´t remember firewire probs.......... polkaholga
look at my guide here http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php...=132695&hl= thanks a lot Peach, as i wrote in my 1st post i'm really new to the whole thing but reading the first 2 lines of your guide was enough to lead me in the right direction... I spent 2 hours of fixing some stuff ( cmos etc ... ) but now everything's working as i want it ! Edit: I only have fake.smc & LegacyHDA in E/E OT: I know it's maybe not the right place to ask but i'll give it a try. Do you run Korgs Legacy Collection in Logic ? Somehow i can't get them working on my hack. anyway... thanks for your fast and helpfull reply ! peach-os
cool.... no unfortunately I don´t have the Korg Legacy collection - but I experienced that almost any plug that works on a regular mac will do it´s job on a hacmac also. I´m pretty sure it´s more related to incompatibilities with Snow Leo or Logic 9. also many plugs don´t work in 64bit mode. with a DAW I would stay 32bit mode anyway (what real macs also still do) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210620-firewire-on-a-gigabyte-ep43-ds3/#findComment-1487251 Share on other sites

All the others work on my hack, just the KLC won't do it. But that's for another forum.....
