gugin
GA-P35-DS3L rev 2. Using Windows 7 ultimate disk util, I partitioned the WD 320 Sata 2 in half. So, 2 Windows 7 NTFS partitions. I didn't change the bios from last week when I had SL only on the HD. AHCI enabled 64-bit mode. The pc wont even boot with AHCI enabled. Sata port 0 native mode disabled. It just hangs after posting. I can't even get into the bios with the HD plugged in. It wouldn't even let me boot to dvd, usb flash drive. So, I had to pull the HD and get into the bios and default the bios just to have a working pc. It did boot into Windows 7 (which is the only OS I have installed). Any Ideas?? Oh btw, I formatted and installed windows 7 because I couldn't get my sound to work with any HDA, ACL888 kext in snow leopard. keypox
im boot on same board windows 7 and snow with sound. I use this guide http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=180954 and mostly the same kexts, and made my dsdt from his dsdt guide. Here is the kext for 10.6.2 sound. Different than 10.6.1.... gaerout
I'll add to this thread my dilemma, because Windows 7 is definitely not playing well with others. I just recently installed Windows 7 64 bit on a new build, got it up and running perfectly. When I decided to dual boot SL on the same drive however, the mere act of booting into the OS X installer caused my Win 7 install to say "Missing operating system" upon start up. The drive shows in BIOS but windows does not seem to recognize it as a valid Install. I tried running multiple system recovery attempts on the Win 7 DVD to no avail. /fixmbr and /ScanOS all revealed that there was supposedly no valid Installs. After no luck with this I decided to get Snow Leopard up and running on a SEPERATE HD, from which I am currently fully functional. Now Windows 7 on start up says "bootmgr.exe missing" My question is; is there any way that I would be able to repair my Windows 7 drive so it will start up again? That is without having to wipe the drive. Would Chameleon support dual booting over multiple drives? I'm using the Chameleon RC3 bootloader on the Snow Leopard drive. My specs are Asus Maximus III Gene motherboard Intel i5 2.8ghz GTS 250 1GB superclocked WD Caviar Black 1TB, WD Caviar Blue 500GB Any help would be greatly appreciated. NTAuthority
OS X installation as a dualboot seems to commonly cause issues with Windows boot sectors - but nowadays NT6 startup repair should help mostly. In the ol' Tiger/XP days there used to be a tool for fixing some stuff in a partition after an OS X install, but I forgot which tool it was. What exactly do you mean NT6 startup repair? Would it be a good idea to unplug the SL hard drive before booting windows install DVD?
