ergosteur
So the drive in my old PowerBook G4 12" failed. I figured it's the opportunity to upgrade it to a quieter, bigger drive, so i went out and got a 320GB WD Scorpio Blue. I took apart the PowerBook (a 50-some step process, according to iFixIt) and swapped the drive. After reassembling the thing and booting the Leopard installer, I found that my internal hard drive is not detected. Under "ATA " in System Profiler, only the SuperDrive shows up. The hard drive DOES spin up, and it's not DOA (I tested it in an external case, and even partitioned it using Disk Utility as Apple Partition map). But I CANNOT get the PowerBook to see it. Has anyone encountered this before/ have any suggestions? The PowerBook was working perfectly until yesterday, and I'd hate to have to get rid of the little thing. A Nonny Moose
I know this is going to sound stupid, but: 1. Check and make sure the thing is hooked up properly on both ends (both the board and the drive). 2. Make sure the jumper pins are set correctly for the drive. If those two points aren't the problem, then it sounds like another, more expensive problem.
