bandgeek1
Ok so i have been looking at the GTS 250 for a new video card for my 10.5.8 hackintosh. I have heard good things about this card, the only thing it, i have no idea which one to buy. I would like to know if it even matters as far as compatibility with 10.5.8 goes. And i am also curious on how exactly i go about upgrading a card, what order i should choose; uninstall my current EFI string, then install the new driver? So yeah, just a little guidance would be awesome! Thanks! Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210078-gts-250/ Share on other sites
LogicalUser
yeah, just remove the EFI string from your plist and replace it with graphicsenabler=yes if your using chameleon, or the new EFI string if not, and shut down to install the new card. some GTS 250s work with graphicsenabler=yes and others require manual EFI strings, I dunno why (possibly further from reference cards) All use the same G92 architecture as the 8800GT/GS/9800GT/9800GTX+/etc... and will be supported by OSX if you get the config right. Personally I'd grab one of the 1GB cards with the beefy aftermarket-style heatsinks like: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814127478 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814130538 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814121333 or slightly overclocked http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx...N82E16814125266 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/210078-gts-250/#findComment-1404704 Share on other sites
