xTreme Machinez
Hello Insanely mac, I have been slowly building up this HP dv1000se (dv1660se) I got for cheap on ebay last year. I have OsX installed and have every bit of hardware installed... except for the wireless. I got a Broadcom bcm94321mc Airport extreme card out of my old apple tv and of course got the "104 error: you can't you that cause you didn't buy it from us at a ridiculous price" error. I have been digging through the forums and found pretty old threads have the final modified bios files for the new HP dv's. The highest mine will go is F24 and I can not find that low of a version that has had the whitelist check removed. TL:DR I need some help getting this Airport extreme card to work in this DV1660SE and I have read the forums... Bios's are foreign territory for me Thanks! Jordan PS: hot swaps do not work for some reason and I do not have the original card (seller sold it seperate) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/209222-disabling-hp-dv1660se-whitelist/ Share on other sites

JaS
you will need to start the system then once it gets to loading WINDOWS slide the wifi card into the slot. It can be shoddy but I haven't had an issue doing this and I have done 6 in the last two weeks.go to device manager and get the device id vender id device sub id and vender sub id. once you have them get an app called Phoenix bios editor and open the bios file for the hp you want to flash. then fire up a hex editor and go to the temp folder in the phoenix bios editors directory. open each rom and do a find for e414 in hex. when you find it replace the ids with the ones for your card. then save the file in hex editor.go back to phoenix bios editor and change some string of text, then change it back and you will be able to build the bios image. you have to change something in the editor to build a new image. this is why I say change it and then change it back. Once its built you can fire up winphlash and flash the modded bios. good luck JaS Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/209222-disabling-hp-dv1660se-whitelist/#findComment-1521406 Share on other sites
