Hi guys,

I'm new to using this forum and Kalyway, having just installed Leopard 10.5.2 (I thought I'd downloaded Snow Leopard, but looking now I suppose not) on my Alienware Area 51 m9750 notebook. I've run into 3 minor issues:

  1. It cannot connect to the Internet
  2. Only 1024x768 is available, and my monitor can do 1920x1200
  3. I have no sound

Here are some of the specs on the computer if they're helpful:

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66GHz 2MB Cache 667MHz FSB
  • North Bridge: Intel i945PM Revision 03
  • South Bridge: Intel 82801 GHM (ICH7-M DH) Revision 03
  • BIOS: American Megatrends, Inc. Version W8350F04
  • KBC Version: 7314
  • Video/Graphics Card: 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT
  • Chassis: 17" WideUXGA 1920 x 1200 LCD with Clearview Technology
  • Memory: 2GB Dual Channel DDR2 SO-DIMM at 667MHz – 2 x 1024MB
  • Network Card: Marvell Yukon 88E8055 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
  • Wireless Network Card: Internal Intel PRO Wireless 3945 a/b/g Mini-Card
  • Sound Card : High-Definition Audio with surround sound

I'm really just re-familiarizing myself with the MacOS after having switched to Windows XP many years ago. I'm considering buying a MBP, so it's not critical that these issues be fixed, but it'd be nice.

Would you have other suggestions I should try?

1. Try installing skge[1].kext.02e_U_.zip using Kext helper b7 if not read 1b.

1b.Go to the little mac icon on the top left click about this mac then more info and then click network to make sure that Kalyway actually sees it. If your internet came with drivers check to see if there is mac on the cd. If not you need to find a kext. I Have included some to try.

2. Extract and Install NVInject.kext (I uploaded it) using Kext Helper b7 it should be able to drive your screen resolution

3. I can't help you much with Audio is it built in or a card (Probably a dumb question considering u have a laptop)

Hope some of this helps

I have a dumb question: How do I install Kext Helper b7?

I think I managed to get it started, but I get an error message saying, 'You can't open the application "__KEXT_HELPER_B7" because the Classic environment is no longer supported."

I did the Kext Helper install for that resolution prob. My Lenovo 3000 n100 comes up as 1024x768, which the display is actually 1280x800. It didn't work.

And my WiFi isn't working.

I have a Broadcom BCM4312.

It's just not working. I click AirPort on, it doesn't change. D:

I have run the BCMenabler .sh file. Didn't work. I've checked that "bcm4312" is the the info.plist that's in one of the kexts method. It's there, but not working. D:

I'm on 10.5.7 btw.

Edit: Just updated to 10.5.8. via Software Update then iATKOS v7 driver only install.

I have the same problem basically. I found sound drivers, but when i connect headphones it plays out of the speakers and headphones, and it wont mute.

And my wireless internet works, but not if theres a password.

And I tried SwitchResX, and it just did not work.

I've had similar issues as well.

I had installed my Leopard iAtkos v7 about 2 days ago "and have since reinstalled it at least 3 times to get the correct drivers/configurations."

The internet had not been working until I found the proper chipset driver for the nForce ethernet adapter, even than it seemed to not be working. I than installed an old dlink wireless card to my computer, turned it back on and worked fine. Not sure if the card had much to do with it.

As for the resolution, I have the same issue. I'm stuck at 1024x768. However, I'm running an ATI Radeon X1600 which is the best part of 3-4 years old. Runs perfect on my windows setup, but not on my Leopard setup. I tried installing a patch from a specific walkthrough for it, but it concluded in me having to reinstall my OS again since I didn't have an extra partition to backup.

the Mac on Pc is tricky depending on your setup and the version you're using. iAtkos v7 seems to have worked very well for me, after a couple of trial and error points I seem to have it working quite well. With of course some minor but noticable issues, like not being able to download certain files/installing them. In safari it will crash the OS if you download something like MSN. I used chrome to download msn afterwards, but than it crashes when it's mounting.

A lot of trial and error. It's a good thing it's easy to install/reinstall.
