Leogansky
Near perfect installation on ASUS X57VN / M50VN using Hazard's Snow Leopard distro Hi, I'm posting this from my new OSX Snow Leopard 10.6.2 running on my ASUS X57VN / M50VN laptop: - Intel Core 2 Duo T9400 (2.53 GHz, 6Mb L2 cache, 1066 Mhz FSB) - RAM 4Gb DDR2 800MHz - Nvidia Geforce 9650m GT 1Gb VRAM - Intel Wifi 5100 (not working - using SMC EZ Connect USB Wifi dongle instead) - TFT 15,4" WXGA+ (1440x900) - Webcam - Bluetooth - Card Reader (not working) - Fingerprint Reader (haven't tried) Installation was very smooth. I had to use the "cpus=1" flag in order to install it. I've only selected the following options: 1 - OSX SL 10.6.2 update 2 - Bootloader install (Chameleon + PCEFI 10.5) 3 - X11 4 - Rosetta Could not install the graphics injector right away, because it's giving me problems, and I couldn't access the first boot setup after install with them, so I left them out intentionally. When the system boots for the first time, it would hang at the ACPI_SMC_Platformplugin.kext kernel panic, so I removed it using the "-s" boot option. After that, everything went well, it booted with 1024x768 (no graphic injectors installed yet) with sound and almost everything else working properly (see the list on top of the post for what's working). It's working in 32 and 64 bit mode. After this, I manually installed a graphic injector (NVEnabler.kext) and rebooted my system. It enabled 1440x900 on my 9650GT, but it created a strange problem: now the system boots up nicely, but when the graphic driver is activated and the password login screen appears at 1440x900, the input controls are FROZEN for about two minutes (sometimes I have mouse, but no mouse clicking, and no keyboard whatsoever). If it wasn't for the HDD activity, I would say it was hanged, but no, after those two minutes, the controls are "activated" and everything works perfectly. So, if anyone can throw in a tip on how to resolve this, it would be great;) Otherwise, it's running smoothly on this great distro! Congrats, Hazard;) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/208961-near-perfect-installation-on-asus-x57vn-m50vn-laptop-using-hazards-snow-leopard-distro/ Share on other sites

countofsorrow
Hello Leogansky. Thank you for this guide I'm going to try this probably next week. I have an asus m50vm-a1 laptop and I used to have leopard installed. I made a guide here: http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversi...p:/t163252.html Maybe you can find some info for the videocard issue. I'll post my results here next week! countofsorrow
I installed Snow leopard with the same settings as you. My geforce 9600m GS doesn't work at 100% though I tried many kext and nothing works. I have no sound either the voodooHDA doesn't work.
