Howdy,

Wow! I got this thing installed last night using chameleon. Once I figured out what exactly chameleon was doing, it kind of made sense. Rather than boot from USB for install, I used a spare drive.

I added some kexts, a dsdt file and boot.plist file from this post, which is kind of old and references 10.5.

My main problems so far are:

-No CI/QE/CL on my Asus 8400GS (nvidia). I have not tried any "enablers", but have used chameleon's graphics enabler, that guy's dsdt linked above, and EFI Studio strings in the boot.plist. The result is the same with any combination of the above, right now I've removed the DSDT file since it seems to do nothing, and the plist. I figure if chameleon at least gets the card recognized, simple is better. What's my best route from here to get graphics acceleration going.

-LAN works with a download of a kext from Realtek. Connectivity works, but all AFP connections seem to fail - I assume this is the "bonjour problem". How do I remedy that? Where's the source for the latest correct kext?

-Audio works for output on rear panel, but no input with a downloaded kext. Again, good source for a recent one?

-I had to remove sleep enabler after 10.6.2 upgrade due to a KP with it loaded. Restart and shutdown work great. Sleep works in that it goes to sleep, but nothing will wake it.

If anyone has any pointers, the big problems I want to solve and understand are the video issues (I need acceleration for the crazy HTPC stuff I want to use), and sleep. A few days of googling can probably find me the LAN/Sound stuff, but I'm really, really stumped with all these options on video. I don't know if one of these other video enabler methods will get the card to run accelerated or not...

Thanks!

And if anyone has questions about the install method I used, feel free to ask or PM. The basic install went REALLY well and was really fast.

Anyone? This is really the big standout. I've got my LAN issues fixed, don't care about front panel sound, but getting the video working correctly is a big one.

edit: well now I'm stumped... After more googling, I read that in SL, QE and CI may not be correctly reported even if they are working. A few peopled noted that if I get the "ripple" in dashboard, a working front row, and a transparent menu bar, QE and CI are enabled. All of those work for me. Can anyone confirm that info? Is there a way to tweak things so it's correctly reported?

If there's another forum that's more appropriate, point me to it!

Thanks

Hello,

could you describe exactly how you did the graphics card installation?. Were you running SL while using EFI studio?. I had similar problems with my 9400GT, being reported as 32MB without CI/QE, to fix it I used 0SX86Tools running on ideneb 1.6(pre 10.6), copied the custom GFX string and Installed that same string on the Snow Leopard Drive.

I hope that helps!
