DNS Problems

I installed OSX 86 without any problems, I have configured everything fine.

I installed both a Wireless and ethernet drivers. I received the IP and all seemed fine.

I can ping all my network, I can even ping 8.8.8.8 and 4.4.2.2 which are the DNS servers of Google and OpenDNS.

So my problem is that I cannot acces any page, in safari, terminal no matter where It wont resolved anything.

What can I do, I have searched everywhere and have no idea.

Thanks for the help

I had similar problems, and it ended up being an issue with my network driver kext.

I initially was able to get full connectivity by booting in 32 bit mode, but ultimately got a 64 bit fix by finding an updated kext which supported 64 bit.

I've got the same problem - running iDeneb 1.3 10.5.5 on VirtualBox 3.1.6...

I'm so close to getting networking going but just held up by this wacky DNS issue...is it a driver issue for sure? or something that I can configure?

any ideas?

Try this command in Terminal (It will ask for Your password):

sudo killall mDNSResponder

Then test the connection with an browser. You can put this line to the crontab. I fixed the DNS issue with this.

This is a know problem even with the brand Apple Mac too (use google to found bugreports).

I tried that but it didn't work...but my solution was to disable (uninstall) Shrew Soft VPN - it mucks with the DNS when I run VMs in VirtualBox. I hope this helps someone else...
