I installed the SL 10.6.2 by Hazard. everything is perfectly working except for QE/CI of my video card GeForce FX5200 AGP. the method i use to make it work is getting the NVDARESMAN.kext, NVHAL30.kext, NVINJECT.kext 0.2.0 from the Kalyway 10.5.2 DVD. i tried a lot of other methods like getting the coregraphics.framework in 10.5.5, getting other kext that can work on my video card but unfortunately with no success... if anyone who can try to help me is greatly appreciated... i really need to make it work. for almost 1 week, the only problem that i haven't solved yet is the QE/CI of my card... before i forgot, this is my computer specs.... mrmomoman
I have asked about this too. But in 10.6 and up they didn't display the QE/CI in the Profiler. I think they assumed it was already there since anything that was able to accept 10.6 and up was newer and would already have QE/CI installed. I have noticed at least on mine I can't get Preview.app to work. So I downloaded Xee and made that my default viewer. Still doesn't resolve my Preview.app. I heard that without True QE/CI it wouldn't work? Please someone correct me if I am wrong. I used Hazard's 10.6.2 as well. Also if anyone knows why OpenGL renders only through Apple Software Render. I assume its not getting the right card info? Sorry to thread jack. Similar situation instead of starting a new thread. vdac
You are right! on SL 10.6, in the system profiler you will not see if your video card is enabled to QE/CI. but 1 thing for sure if it is enabled, try to open the FRONT ROW... if it doesn't work, then your QE/CI is not working... Beerkex'd
I think for the FX5x00 cards you have to flash the BIOS so that it appears as a Quadro card for it to work with OSX. I could be wrong, it's been a while. Go check out Aquamac's site and forums. I could be wrong, it's been a while. Go check out Aquamac's site and forums. Geforce FX works fine from 10.4.4 to 10.5.5 (?), after 10.5.5 Apple drop x86 from drivers (before that Geforce 7 cards used Geforce FX OpenGL driver/bundle, but in 10.5.6 Geforce 7 cards got its own OpenGL bundle), so you had to take some working parts from pre 10.5.6. But in Snow Leopard, there are no drivers for NV30, only NV40 and NV50 are supported. Beerkex'd
Thanks for the info. If there's no more NV30 support I guess it's time for the OP to upgrade. A 7600 GT AGP card can be had for cheap and works great with Leopard at least (only needs dev ID inserted in some kexts). I don't know about Snow. vdac
Get a new Card. Thanks for the info... what is the possible AGP video card that will support for SL? is it the GeForce 6200 and the 6500? Thank you guys! i already had a lot of time figuring out how to make it work. so i guess i'll just have to buy a new computer with compatible components to SL... i don't want to waste money just for the upgrade... or i'll just have to buy a REAL MAC hahahahaha... riws
AGP: Geforce 6 6200/6600/6800 Geforce 7 7300/7600/7800 *10.6.2 got some Problems with NV40 (Geforce 6 and 7) Cards. And if you don't need powaa cards for Windows then a PCI Card is good enough for OSX and QE/CI. PCI: Geforce 8400GS/GT Geforce 9400GS/GT Geforce 9500GS/GT Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/207867-sl-1062-by-hazard-999-succesful-installation-except-for-qeci-on-geforce-fx5200-agp/#findComment-1389270 Share on other sites

crazyJAT
I know it has been said many times, but is there absolutely no way to bring back support for the FX5200 in Snow Leopard? Even if only for 32bit?
