wardww Posted January 13, 2010 Share Posted January 13, 2010 Intel® Virtualization Technology is needed to run a virtual window of XP in Windows 7 (only Windows 7 Pro I think has this feature, not sure). Question is, I am choosing between a E7500 (without Intel® Virtualization Technology) and an E7600 (with Intel® Virtualization Technology) for my HackMac. Do I need this feature to run a virtual XP window in Mac OSX 10.5 or 10.6 ?? Thanks in advance. False economy not buying a CPU that has VT extensions. Watch out though make sure the BIOS also supports the feature. The whole Sony Vaio story where they shipped VT enabled processors but locked down the BIOS to disable it. Thanks guys, re my bios support, my mobo will, its a ASUS P5K DELUXE Wi-Fi. I chose it because I want a perfect install that runs the EFI/kernel Vanilla. Video is Nvdia 9500 GT w/1 gig and 4 gig of 1066 ddr2 ram. Should run well I hope. I will use my existing IDE HD and wait for the US$30 ASUS add-on board with usb3 and sata3 6 gig that's due out next week, and then I will get a sata 3 drive. Any comments or advice welcome.
