Hi - I'll keep this straight to the point (though I can elaborate almost endlessly)

My system:

MB: Asus P5E3 PRO - X48, ICH9R

CPU: CPU INTEL|C2Q Q9400 2.66G 775 45N R

MEM: 2Gx2|OCZ OCZ3G10664GK R

HDD: 250G|WD 7K 8M SATA2 WD2500AAJS

PCIe: ATI Radeon HD 4350

I've tried Kalyway 10.5.2 and got the error

post-556182-1263375479_thumb.jpg

I've tried these after pushing F8

-v

vanilla

[nothing]

-f

and nothing has loaded.

I tried using the BOOT-KABYL-BUMBY.iso with a Leopard 10.5.1 Retail disc and it would show the grey screen with the "do not enter" logo over the apple logo -- i think this might be called kernel panic.

Now after two days and looking at over 100 tangental posts (and re-reading some posts 5 or 6 times) on this site I've decided to post a distress call out in the ether in hopes for a hero.

Thanks so much for your help in advance and I'm sorry if I may have left something out, I'll get the necessary info up asap.

No, the stop sign is also 'still waiting for root device', it's not a kernel panic.

Did you google 'still waiting for root device'?

In the BIOS, enable AHCI mode for ICH9.

Is your DVD drive PATA or SATA?

I've googled "still waiting for root device" and the solutions were pretty much inconclusive:

I've actually already enabled AHCI and it still didn't work

My DVD is actually IDE -- I also have a USB CD/DVD, should I try booting from that?

If your DVD is PATA (IDE) then you're getting Still Waiting For Root Device because there are no drivers for your PATA controller on the DVD you're trying to boot.

Googling 'Still Waiting For Root Device' will tell you this.

What make and model PATA controller do you have?
