nyrol
I have a macbook that has been water damaged causing it to always think the lid is closed. Is there a kext that I can remove from the install disc so that it does not install with the ability to detect whether the screen is closed or not? Ubuntu boots fine and does not go to sleep and I have tested everything else on the system through that, so the sleeping is the only problem. Any help would be great. Thanks. beermacht
wouldnt it be better to repair the hardware issue instead of trying to "fix" it with a workaround ?? water damages are like cancer - if you do nothing - it will kill the device - sometimes very slow - but it will kill it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206981-help-with-install-on-macbook-that-always-sleeps/#findComment-1384043 Share on other sites
nyrol
I have replaced the sleep switch, and this is still a problem. I would have to replace the entire logic board, which is costly...so I would rather not do that. beermacht
have you changed it by yourself ? if yes - have you seen some white or greenish powdery stuff on the board ?? that have to be cleaned - i would use a hard - dry brush to wipe that away (carefully) or you can use pure 100% alcohol to clean it the "powder" shorts everything Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206981-help-with-install-on-macbook-that-always-sleeps/#findComment-1384078 Share on other sites
nyrol
I have only ever found a black substance of which I tried to clean off. Instead of trying to mess with the hardware, I would much rather just put the InsomniaT.kext onto an install disc, but I do not have access to a mac to make the extensions.mkext file. Is there any way of doing that from windows?
