TomandhisAsus
Im currently working on installing OSX 10.6 on my Asus G51vx. So far I have gotten it to install after using the Empire EFI. This is on my second drive. Once installed it does not recognize the Intel wireless card (not surprising as i cant find any support for Intel wireless on 10.6), nor does it recognize the graphics card. It does have display but at 1024x786. It runs stable but only reads 1gb of my ram (4gb total) I screwed up and installed chocolate cernel thinking that would make it recognize my processor which was not properly recognized. Long story short, it will boot with the help of empire EFI, it will run stable but it wont all be there. If you really want to run OSX on your Asus it is possible but it wont be the easiest. On that note, could anybody give me some help getting drivers for my GTX260m running? That and could anybody link me to a place where i could buy a new wireless minipcie card that is 10.6 compatible? Hi, the last at first: I've changed 5100agn in my Asus G71V with an an Atheros AR928X (to find by ebay) mini pci-e and it works obo. Then to install SL take a look at: "http://www.insanelymac.com/forum/lofiversion/index.php/t185823.html" to install the original SL-DVD. Thereafter install PC Efi 10.5 (all works for me as a MacBook pro) and few kexts for 64 bit and all works fine. VoodooHDA for the sound! My config: ASUS G71V 8GB DDR3 1066 Core2 Quad X9300 NVidia 9700GTM 512MB 2x500GB Sata Sata DVD blue ray Combo Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206585-106-on-asus-g51vx-a1-dual-boot-vista-plz-help/#findComment-1386007 Share on other sites

guitarslingerchris
Weird, I am in the process of installing right now on my G51VX-A1 with a vanilla DVD and Empire EFI 1.085 and my kb/tp work great. Hopefully that continues. Anyone have any updates on their G51s and OSX since this seems to not have been touched on in awhile? Overlordmode
Okay, I'm running iAtkos 10.5.7 on my asus g51vx-rxo5 best buy edition, out of box, once I went into the bios and told sata to use enhanced mode, it loaded up fine, I put in a broadcomm 4xxx card (from a lenovo s10) and used the broadcomm enabler, trackpad-> went into the plist and removed the entry, trackpad works again My only issue is that i miss being able to close my laptop down, go somewhere and open it and still be running, and at present i got no sleep working, and no insomniax that will run witout the grey screen of death. oh well, still searching - everything else runs SUPERB. Tamed G
I have the Asus G51-JC using SL retail 10.6.4 with vanilla 10.4.0 kernel on it's own drive. Boot: Chameleon RC4 Drive 0: OS X 10.6.4 Drive 1: Windows 7 Home Premium Hardware changes: Asus g60 207 bios update. Upgraded the wifi card to a Dell DW1510 for wireless N OOB Here's all the extensions and DSDT.aml I am using on my G51-JC which give full accelerated graphics support for the GTX 260m and the smbios.plist with a lot of the system info correct in it. Keyboard and trackpad working, built in cam, ethernet etc. Everything works perfectly except shutdown and the SD card.
