blackrunnero
Hi! Thank you everyone for all your support in this project! So... anybody bought the dualcore-I5 or I'm the first? It's been 48 hours since I started the install. Everything restarts at darwin loader, no matter the method of install. I'm going to sleep. Thnx I dunno man. I would assume that the new clarkdales need some kext to work. You may have to wait a couple weeks before someone else figures it out. LogicalUser
As I mentioned in the other thread yesterday, the place to start would be with a modded kernel with the CPUID check removed. Apple has not used any clarksdale CPUs yet, and while they are functionally similar to lynnfield, they will have different CPUIDs. Basically, you need to follow the P55/i5 guides as if Apple had not added i5 support to the kernel in 10.6.2, and continue to use the Qoopz 10.6.2 modded kernel. (just like people on ATOM processors or i5 on 10.6/10.6.1) So ya, replace mach_kernel with the modded one & then repair permissions and it should work, assuming your issue is the brand new CPU. If it doesn't work, it is possible your issue is related to the P55A board which may require different tweaking Good luck, I would expect there are a bunch of people around here awaiting the outcome Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206572-new-clarkdale-core-i5-processor/#findComment-1381818 Share on other sites
maleorderbride
I used the Qoopz kernel and installed without any problems on my P55m-UD2/i5-650. I used cpuratio=25 as a bootflag in my boot plist. Archagel
Looks like it's the motherboard problem, not the CPU. I have the same mobo and HDD, but Core i7 860 and ATI video Cards. Run into same problems. I have managed to install Kalyway 10.5.2, but unable to boot into it. For now - no solutions found, but I'll keep searching. system: GA-P55A-UD4(tried install with bios F3 then F), Core i5 661, 4gb DDR3 1333, video - GeForce 8600GT, WD 160 HDD instalations: 1-from another mac with a script, 2-usb boot, 3-tonymac boot disk i tried all bios settings and methods I founded. just restarts at darwin load. I would not expect anything older than 10.5.7-10.5.8 to have any success on the P55/i7 platform without hassle, as the ideal (Apple supported) OS for your gear is 10.6.2 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206572-new-clarkdale-core-i5-processor/#findComment-1406194 Share on other sites
