deathbunny92
I have on and off been trying to install either leopard or snow leopard since I built my computer over a year ago, but on all of the leopard distros i have tried (kalyway, iatkos, iPC) I get a still waiting for root device on boot of the install disc. I just tried a snow leopard distro (anarchy or something like that) and while the install disk booted and installed I get the still waiting for root device on boot of the hard disk. My Specs are as follows: Intel Core 2 Quad q8200 EVGA Nvidia nForce 750i Sli 4 GB of Corsair memory (2x2GB) 1x EVGA Nvidia Geforce 9800 gtx+ 1xXFX Nvidia Geforce 9800 gtx+ 1x 1TB WD Green HDD (SATA) 1x 400 GB WD HDD(SATA) 1xIDE 40 GB WD HDD(Mac Drive) 2x LG SATA DVD-RW Drives I have tried only 2GB of ram, only one graphics card, only the ide hard drive in every combination possible to no avail. I was wondering if anyone could help, I am figuring that it has something to do with the mobo. I would greatly appreciate any assistance. audit13
I think you're receiving the error message because the OS can't find your hard drive. Many drivers for Intel drive controllers are incldued with the OSX disk but nVidia chipsets require you to manually add the drivers. danerd100
Or ti could be because of the SATA DVD. If you have an IDE DVD drive, try it, if not, read about how to get OSx86 install to detect a SATA DVD. Then again, I could be way off on this hypothesis Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/206567-still-waiting-for-root-device-issue/#findComment-1381905 Share on other sites
