After a lot of messing around and sorting through posts, I have almost all the onboard functions of my ST20G5 working. Here's a rundown of what works/what doesn't, after installing some extra kexts.

Note - This is only tested in 10.4.6. The SATA kexts I know work on 10.4.3, but I haven't tested the others in anything else, sorry.

Working:

* Network - MAC address registers as all 0's, making some routers not supply a DHCP address. Assign a static address and it works perfectly.

* Sound - Output only, possibly just two speaker - I don't have a 5.1 setup to try, sorry. Mic/inputs not working, but the stereo output is perfect - no pops, buzzes, garbles, anything.

* SATA - The sata controller is working fine. Of course you can't use it during setup, but If you mount your SATA disk in vmware and install to that, then install the kext while booted in vmware, you'll be able to boot off the SATA drive natively. Make sure you have the RAID mode enabled in the BIOS, I don't think it works otherwise. This is fine even if you have a single disk.

* USB2/Firewire - Both of these are working great.

Not Working:

* Video - I don't think there's any support for the onboard X200, sorry. The PCI-E slot works fine though so installing a supported Radeon fixes that.

* IDE - The IDE line is still ridiculously slow and I haven't found a way around it. The best thing to do for optical drive is to put a usb2/firewire or SATA adapter on it, I'd imagine.

* CPU Speed - For some reason my Athlon 64 3000+ is recognized as a 500mhz Athlon 64. It isn't actually running that speed as everything is quite snappy, so I imagine this is just a cosmetic bug for the most part. Anyone know how to fix that?

All you have to do is remove the AppleHDA.kext file, then install these new kexts.

Don't forget to set the permissions right and load the kexts!

I've attached the kext files needed to make everything work, with the proper device IDs already installed. Hopefully this is ok - good luck!

I'll be looking at this hopefully later on today

i'd have to say I am confused at the SATA controller part though i can't use it during setup so I will have to install mac os x in VMWARE? than install the attached file while booted in vmware than i'll be able to boot off my drive natively. good that you said to enable raid as I have it disabled in bios.

I've tried to install OSX on my ST20g5, but I can't get it running.

I've created an partition on my SATA disk for OSx.

Started VMware with my SATA disk configured correctly.

Cleared the partition in VMware and installed to that partition in VMware.

After installation I've copied the CHAIN file to C: root and modified my boot file of windows.

But for some reason it doesn't find the OSx partition.

Can anyone help me? I'd really like to use OSX natively with my ST20g5
