I'm running triple boot Xp, SL 10.6.2 and Ubuntu 9.10 on a GigaByte GA-P35-DS3L Rev 2 with F9 bios.

Everything is working great apart from sleep - no matter what I try hitting sleep causes the screen to go blank, a click from the HD and then nothing. Have to perform a full reset. Sleep works fine with Xp and Ubuntu.

Seems this is a common problem with hackintosh :-)

I've patched the dsdt.aml using a patching app and have tried most if not all of the usual fixes found on this site and others - all to no avail. I suspect it could be a dsdt.aml or some other file problem.

Does anyone have the same setup and could share their settings / files or even have any other ideas ?

Thanks Tim

Does it wake up when you hot the power button?

Hi Duke,

Thanks for the suggestion, but no, I have to hit either reset or power button to get it back, then it's a full reboot as if from cold.

I've checked thru' the kernel log and there's no major errors apart from the ACPI_SMC timeout shown below.

The log also indicates that Sleepenabler is ok and I have fakesmc working - basically the system is 100% rock stable but just won't sleep.

I had to disable HPET in the bios and kext to get rid of a USB error message - but don't think that's the cause ?

Also I've stripped out anything extra USB or 1394 related from the HW in case that's the source.

I'm thinking I may have too many kexts in place and only really need one or two - but which ones ? :-)

Thanks again Tim

This looks good:

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: [sleepEnabler] Registering PowerManagement dispatch table...

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: [sleepEnabler] Calling pmInitComplete()...

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: NullCPUPowerManagement::init: properties=0xffffff8005c32240

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: NullCPUPowerManagement::start

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=0 LocalApicId=0 Enabled

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=1 LocalApicId=1 Enabled

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=2 LocalApicId=2 Disabled

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: AppleACPICPU: ProcessorId=3 LocalApicId=3 Disabled

So does this:

Jan 9 08:47:31 localhost kernel[0]: ACPI: System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)

This is a bit worrying, but AppleIntel CPUPowerManagement has been disabled, so maybe not an issue
