I cannot get the 8 cpus to show up no matter what i do

Ive tried to use dsdt patcher gui or terminal, i tried dsdtse 1.36, i treid osx86 tools and no matter what it never boots without kernel panic or cpus=1 there is no other option.

Ive done over 30 installs, i can get it stable but with only 1 proccessor and as we all know

THAT WILL NOT DO!!!!!! :thumbsup_anim:

please in the name of all thats good and true someone please tell me how to patch the dsdt so i get all 8 cpus and correct bus speed

as of now ideneb 1.6 reports

intel 720 chip at 1.6ghz

6 gig of ram (only 3 usable? wtf)

correct nvidia 230 gt

correct realtek r8111 nic

correct intel hi def audio

wrong bus speed @ 400

only 1 cpu (cry)

Im pretty sure i just need a working dsdt right?

Thanks in advance for any information.

I just got a dv6 yesterday with the same chipset (PM55) and the i7 quad core. I'm in the same boat. I'll keep looking around, but if you have found something, please share. Also, how do you get it to boot after the install? My install was flawless (having used cpus=1 busratio=20), but I can't get it to boot after the install. I get an immediate kernel panic.

RANDUMBNAME, try my guide on this issue. . Chako, try specifying busratio=12 on boot. If that does not work, its possible your kernel panic may be caused by another problem =(

The busratio=12 worked like a charm! Thanks. I cannot seem to get more cores than 1 though. I have tried cpus=4, and cpus=8 but get kernel panics unless I use cpus=1. Any other ideas? These laptops don't have bios settings that can help. Is hyperthreading the problem? I thought I read somewhere that turning it off would help.

Thanks for all the assistance. I have everything now but wireless and more cores.

Try the latest SL 10.6.2 Hazard distro just with busratio=20 or 12 in your case. I have a core i7 machine works charm. No need to specify cpus even on the installation.

Hi all!I've got a DV7 3085dx i7 720QM.

I've noticed throughout forums that there's a few people with same specs and I've been trying for a fex days now to install a osx iAtkos v7 on my laptop.

The issue is that I can only boot with flags like: ("cpus=1 busratio=12 -y -u -x") :)

(in safemode) I've tried to install some patches and kext's but nothing seem to solve the reboot issue!!! Anyone who can help? Pleeeeeeease!!!

Hello all,

I have started a similar thread for my Sony VAIO VPCF115FM (which has very similar specs to yours) and we are having similar issues. What you need to start working with is SL retail 10.6.3. That is the only one that works with our P55M Intel chipsets. In addition to that, there is an Apple MacBook Pro 1.3 update (http://support.apple.com/kb/DL1026) (needs to be applied AFTER installing 10.6.3 v1.1 Combo Update), which has a new MacBook Pro based kernel.

Hope this helps,

Mammoth
