loji
Trying a new 10.6 Retail install and ran into some problems, I've got everything booting and working - but my nVidea 9800 GTX+ 512MB is stuck at 800x600 resolution **fixed: used custom EFI string in com.apple.Boot.plist **, and sleep doesn't work well. I'm using a Logitech bluetooth keyboard/mouse which works. But sometimes seems shakey. Also System Profiler shows an Imac, and has alot of wrong information (although mem, cpu are correct). **fixed icon used lifehacker smbios** P5B v1.04G w/ICH8 AMI BIOS v.1803 JMicron 20360/20363 SATA/IDE Controller using Chameleon RC4 as my bootloader (installed by MyHack w/ rc3) and manually upgraded to RC4 boot. This is on an 80Gb IDE drive (w/SL installed and booting off IDE). w/ custom boot screens. All ok I'm using AppleVIAATA.kext to support my Jmicron IDE/SATA and it boots ok, I'm using VoodooHD.kext to support my audio. (no output, but it shows in Audio/Midi settings) using EFX strings for nVidia 9800GTX+ support All my Kexts are: AppleAHCIPort.kext AppleVIAATA.kext fakesmc.kext LegacyAppleRTC_32bit_Only.kext ??to fix the CMOS?? what is this for? NullCPUPowerManagement.kext ?? is this responsible for my front power switch not working?? OpenHaltRestart.kext PlatformUUID.kext VoodooHDA.kext - The computer won't wake from sleep (either from the list, or auto-sleep). - A number of items are missing from System Profiler including, ATA, bluetooth, audio, disc burning, all show no device/no info found - Audio is reconized in Audio/Midi Settings, but I hear nothing at output. - I'm not sure if Quartz is turn on for the nVidia, how do I check? Thanks for any help or tips to the correct Kexts! gp-se
I'm currently using Chameleon RC3 and it shows Mac Pro, when I did try RC4 it showed iMac, I think thats just the way it is. As for the mouse, does it lag when you have itunes open? my mouse does this only with itunes running, when I close itunes it goes back to smooth. loji
ahhh I see .. good to know. I was able to get a MacPro Icon in RC4 by using the lifehacker SMBIOS, althought it showed my CPU as 1.6Ghz instead of 2.14Ghz .. so I used OSx86Tools to change the CPU readout. It now displays correctly. . . and as a mac pro. I have Windows 7 booting off a SATA drive, and Snow Leopard is booting off the IDE drive through a JMIcron controller. (everyone was saying SL didn't support IDE, but it seems to work fine. I Didn't have the money for an extra SATA drive, but maybe just got lucky). I haven't noticed the mouse lag more with Itunes open .... my sound is reconized by doesn't pass audio, so I don't often have Itunes open because I can't hear. What are you using to get your sound to work> A efi string? I tried EFIstudio and OSx86Tools, and neither found my audio string, (Azul) .. so I think it's HDA. I'm using voodooHD which should work, but doesn't. I'm starting to think the keyboard/mouse funniness is just from the bluetooth being in range, then loosing connection. My biggest grip is the sleep freeze. I'm using OpenHaltRestart whicvh I thought fixed that. . . is there a newer version for Snow Leopard? I'd like to get everthing working, before I update. So I know if the update broke something, or just brought out an already broken thing. Also in RC4 .. /Extra is loaded dynamically at boot correct? So by putting Kexts in there (instead of S/L/E) they shouldn't be overwritten from an apple update? I haven't tried yet, but I'll back up to a bootable thumbdrive before I update. Just wanted to know, and check that I understand it right. Thanks btw:: I think the wandering mouse in Itunes is a NVinject issue. It has to do with Itunes wanting quartz extreme running or some acceleration. . . If you're using a EFIstring in your com.apple.Boot.plist, you should be able to fix Itunes.
