BiTRiP
I have a onboard Cmedia 9880 soundcard. Wich is I think the same as ALC880. I got sound but i'm not able the set main volume but only in apps itself. (like itunes, vlc etc) Is there a way to enable this slider? If im right my card uses the AppleAzalia kext. Thanks in advance. BiTRiP Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20482-volume-slider/ Share on other sites

odrex
Have you tried double-clicking Volume.menu at /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras/ to see if it launches or perhaps pthvolume. http://pth.com/products/pthvolume/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20482-volume-slider/#findComment-240243 Share on other sites
bubugugu
I'm having the same problem with CMedia card, mine is 9761A. it says it is AC97 compatible from the installation guide booklet that comes with the motherboard. I can see AC97 kext is loaded in System Profiler however in the Audio section it says no sound were detected. Though I'm able to play sound in itunes and flash. And yes, volume slider won't work. This is getting real annoying sound is always played loudest. I will try the volume.menu method, will keep you guys informed. EDIT: update - both method mentioned above doesn't work =/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20482-volume-slider/#findComment-240270 Share on other sites

bubugugu
I just did a search on the forums, keyword "volume slider", sort by post. Seems that a lot of people with CMedia/Soundmax cards are reporting slider not working problem, and unfortunately no one has come up with a fix yet Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20482-volume-slider/#findComment-241724 Share on other sites
