So I have installed 4gb of RAM (which the OS correctly sees) but for some reason FCP7 will not open because it says I have -4gb of ram. I remember initially having this issue with the OS and FCP6 but was able to correct it (although for the life of me I can't remember how). But now as I said the OS reads correctly, but the newest version of FCP for some reason is still misreading my installed memory.

Any thoughts??

I've never heard of this error message before and google hasn't enlightened me. Can you describe in greater detail what's going on?

EDIT:

Lol I thought you meant it sees less than 4 gigs, but you said it sees negative 4 gigs. That's really weird, I'm afraid I don't know what to suggest. Perhaps you could try trashing or editing the FCP preferences?

yeah believe me I searched everywhere before posting. The issue is that an error dialog pops up when I attempt to open FCP saying "Final Cut requires at least 1024MB of ram, you have -4096MB" then when I click ok the program closes.

So I have no prefs, etc to trash because the program has yet to open at all.
