Hi all

I just got iATKOS v7 up and running on my Pavilion Elite desktop, and i'm now in the process of ironing out the missing stuff.

My issues are:

Network - No card found

Audio - No card found

Graphics - Card found and identified correctly (Nvidia 9800GT 1024), but no QE/CI or res options

CPU - Only one core (Identified correctly in "About this mac")

I've searched these forums up and down, but being a complete mac freshman, i'm at a loss when asked to do some of the "hacks" mentioned here.

To get the os to boot, i have to press f8 at startup, and type rd=disk1s1 cpus=1.

If i dont do this, the system wont boot at all (only restarting, or grey apple screen). I'm ok

with this for now, but could someone point me in the right direction when it comes to adding drivers (i.e network/sound) on a "working" system? Do i have to boot from the dvd, and select the drivers there, or can i pull them out from the dvd within the os ? If so, how do i actually install them?

I tried booting from the dvd, selecting the Realtek R1000 driver (RTL8111 compatible) only, installed it, but no change after reboot. I did get an error message saying that the OS installation failed, after doing this though.

System specs:

Core 2 Quad Q6600

Nvidia 9800GT 1024MB

Intel G33 Chipset

Realtek ALC 888S chipset (audio)

Asus IPIBL-LB motherboard (Benicia-GL8E)

Realtek 8111C integrated LAN

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hmm. Odd that you have to boot with CPUS=1, I've got a mobo with G33 and a Q6600 and I ran iATKOS v7 vanilla just fine. When people have that problem I usually suggest they try again with the Voodoo kernel. I thought that ethernet chipset was supported so I'm not sure why it didn't work. I guess you could try manually installing the kext with a program called Pacifist. With a 9800GT you should be able to get full QE/CI with just an EFI string and NVinject. That process is a little complicated, and you may want to start with a clean OS to avoid conflicts with any other graphics drivers. Actually now that I think about it I believe you can just wipe the Mac OS X and reinstall, selecting NVinject and the appropriate EFI string in the installer. Not sure about sound, but you can try installing VoodooHDA or Azalia.

A bit of general info about Mac OS X. Drivers usually come in the form of kexts. These have to be installed to /System/Library/Extension and then you have to use the -f option the next time you boot.
