Teddy Horse
I have no problem with the built in driver. It supports Quartz, Core image etc etc. But it does not support the DVI output. I tried Callisto and I managed to install it without problem but the performance is really poor. Is it possible to use the built in driver of OSX and to tune it somehow to work with my DVI display? Order2Chaos
From the callisto FAQ file: 11.How do I get the QE/CI/OpenGL KEXTs to work with Callisto? Look in your /System/Library/Extensions folder for ATIRadeonXXXXGA.plugin/ (XXXX depends on your card model). Edit its Info.plist, under IOProviderClass key change IONDRVFramebuffer to CallistoFB, update or delete Extensions.mkext and Extensions.kextcache, then reboot 9800 uses ATIRadeon9700GA.plugin so that's what you'll be editing... belgrano
Order2Chaos you are right, but if I remember correctly from the days of Callisto forum, there were some issues with Apple Cinema Diplay... gwprod12
Am I wrong in thinking that the acceleration kexts have nothing to do with which port the card uses? belgrano
Maybe not acceleration kexts, but Callisto sure does... dvdp2
I use an 9800 and have the monitor attached via DVI. Installed exactly as the installation and FAQ instructions explained and worked fine. Which version of the 9800 are you using exactly? i have the agp radeon 9800 pro 256 mb Quartz, Core image etc all working, mouse tearing though Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20425-any-other-solution-than-callisto-to-use-dvi-display-with-a-radeon-9800/#findComment-135878 Share on other sites
belgrano
dvdp2 for mouse tearing use MouseLocator. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20425-any-other-solution-than-callisto-to-use-dvi-display-with-a-radeon-9800/#findComment-135882 Share on other sites
dvdp2
dvdp2 for mouse tearing use MouseLocator. thanks, I tried it via the wiki when I installed but it leaves some of my programs messed up. The world of warcraft mouse pointer is also a bit, Uhm..., disturbing... For me the Radeon 9800 is working nicely although sometimes I can see artifact like stripes which dissapear a millisecond after. I'm waiting, patiently And.... for the first time in my life considering buying a mac Reasons : A template in any program for windows is designed by a computer nerd. On mac they are obviously designed by designers. Mac is easy versus having to explain everything on a pc to my spouse ( He actually made a DVD ) Wauw..... say the eyes Wow say the ears. aaaahhhhhh.. says the brain Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/20425-any-other-solution-than-callisto-to-use-dvi-display-with-a-radeon-9800/#findComment-136635 Share on other sites
