xxbraveguyxx
Alright, so i been messing around with Mac OS 10.6 and Realtek 8185 PCI card for couple of hours now...and I have discovered couple of things... Alright so here is the deal.. I downloaded RealtekR1000SL.kext edited info.plist inside it with 8185 V-id and D-id which is 0x818510ec ..Then i copied IONetworkingFamily.kext to desktop and then added modiffed version of RealtekR1000SL.kext into its plugin folder and then installed it used Kext Utility. And then guess what..I got message saying "New Connection is found" so i went in to System Prefences/Netwerk and I saw my 8185 in there with my REAL MAC ID OF MY 8185 card.. This trick identified the card but , then it always "card not connected".. So i think we have 2 problems to be solved.. 1. "card not connected" even though it is 2. "How to configure it" Lets work together to figure those 2 things out, since i have already take 1st step..lets not give up DO some testing post results and if you know how to write kext then help us here becoz we are almost there to make Realtek 8185 work... BTW, Merry Christmas..Hopefully we could figure this one out before 2009 ends.. gastromagig
Bump... NO wants Realtek 8185 to work??? I had a similar problem with a zydas card. I have a 8185 too. Basically with the installer for the zydas driver was installing the kext, but the wireless manager thing wasnt working. Link me the kext you were using, and I have a realtek wireless manager installed, I'll try it out. WORMHeath91
Sorry to bump this (rather) old thread but has anyone discovered a way? I got myself a TRENDnet TEW-423Pl (I don't know wether it's "L" or "I") which reports as RTL-8185 IEEE 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN Controller in Hardware Info. How can I help? EDIT: BTW vendor/device ID is reported as 10ec:8185 in Hardware Info. atlee
i don't think it would be that hard to get this working, 80211 kext and ionetworking kext modified would be needed inside extras folder. and the realtekr1000sl kext as far as i know was built for builtin network and not wireless, you need to use the 80211 kext for wireless. if i'm not wrong. WORMHeath91
True, R1000SL is for Ethernet... I might try using 80211 and I'll keep you informed. EDIT: Sorry, I'm lost. What kext do i have to edit? Do I have to download a 3rd party kext, modify it and put it into the plugins folder of another kext? I know I should have asked before trying... And yeah, I'm a noob Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/204225-realtek-8185-solution-found-almost-p/#findComment-1445345 Share on other sites
