ASUS P5K-E / P5K-E WIFI -AP > SL X64 GUIDE

Bios Settings:

• Set to AHCI for SATA HDD
  
• MaxCPUID = Disabled
  
• Vanderpool = Disabled
  
• Plug & Play OS = Yes
  
• Memory Remap = Enabled
  
• ASUS C.G.I = Disabled
  
• Only LAN & Audio Enabled - Other devices disabled (I did this since i don't use them, if you use them then turn on)

Latest Psystar DUBL

Note: I know that Psystar Rebel EFI / DUBL is not welcome in OSX86 Community but i will use this method since Empire EFI did not work for me, it did not want to allow med to start OSX SL INSTALL with AHCI mode and in IDE mode it hangs at waiting for root device.

• Burn it on a cd.
  
• Boot your pc with the cd in the drive.
  
• When it has started click on OSX Install.
  
• Replace your DUBL cd with SL Retail DVD.
  
• After OSX Install has loaded:
  -
  • Choose language and click on the arrow.
    
  • Click on Utilities on the tool bar, then select Disk Utilities.
    
  • On the left you should see your hard drive.
    
  • If not, a disk is not connected or cannot be read by your computer.
    
  • After selecting your hard drive click on Partition.
    
  • Under Volume Scheme, click current and select 1 partition.
    
  • Under Volume Information, name your hard drive.
    
  • Format: Free Space
    
  • Click Apply
    
  • Click Partition
    
  • After selecting your hard drive click on Partition.
    
  • Under Volume Scheme, click current and select 1 partition.
    
  • Under Volume Information, name your hard drive.
    
  • Format: Mac OS Extended (Journaled)
    
  • At the bottom of the window Click on the Options Button.
    
  • Select the GUID Partition Table
    
  • Click OK
    
  • Click Apply
    
  • Click Partition
    
  • Quit Disk Utilities
    
  • Click on the HDD you want to install OSX to.
    
  • Select customize, deselect printers and languages from the list.
    

  -

  [*]Click on your HDD and select customize and unstick printers and languages from the list.

  [*]Install OSX:

  Note: It will say say that install failed near the end of installation, just ignore it and restart.

  [*]Use DUBL cd and boot into OSX HDD.

  [*]When booted into OSX:

  • Download Chameleon RC4 Install Package
    
  • Install it but don't press Restart.
    
  • Download Package with drivers and tools.
    
  • Replace the Extra folder in your HDD with the one from my package.
    

  _

  [*]Restart OSX.

  [*]Add EFI string for your GFX card [Easy Method]:

  • Edit com.apple.boot.plist and add to it:
    
  • <key>GraphicsEnabler</key>
    
  • <string>yes</string>
    
  • Save
    
  • Reboot for Effect to take Change.

  [*]Enjoy.

Optional:

• Install other drivers for wireless etc.
  
• Download & Install NTFS3G if you want write support for NTFS drives.

Wifi - Note Tested

Firewire - Not Tested

 

Additional Hardware:

 

GFX NV8600GT 256MB - Works

Logitech QuickCam E3500 Webcam -Works

Sleep - Works

Time Machine - Not Tested

 

Note:

 

Wifi - OSX 10.5 drivers on Realtek Website (They have more than one RTL8187 driver, i don't know which of these is right, try at your own)

 

Other method for adding EFI String for GFX (If the first does not work):

 

• Use UInstaller tool included in the package.
  
• Select your GFX card in the list.
  
• Apply.
  

Warning:

• DSDT file included in package may not work for you, in that case remove it from EXTRA folder and make your own.
  

If you cannot boot into OSX at all then boot to it using DUBL cd and after remove DSDT file and then boot normal without cd.

 

Note:

AppleIntelCpuManagement and some other kexts is not included, i don't use them and i don't know if it is necessary to have them.
